  1. Saw Mr Turner yesterday. One of the few films I've watched where nothing happened very very slowly..... However The Management approved so not a complete waste of time.
  2. FFS when are they going to learn that if you can't put a £number on it then it has no value???!!!
  3. Touched a nerve have I?Not at all.You are simply demonstrating how well read and informed a lot on this forum actually are. Also how poorly informed some on here can be.Can you tell the difference? Somehow I doubt it...Oops! Sock puppet alert! Now THAT'S funny!
  4. Touched a nerve have I? Not at all. You are simply demonstrating how well read and informed a lot on this forum actually are. Also how poorly informed some on here can be. Can you tell the difference? Somehow I doubt it...
  5. A tad disingenuous there Mr C, as per. In Gaza Hamas control the militia, control the strategy and control the funding. Hamas ARE the political environment in Gaza. Big PR play on a school being hit in Gaza this PM. Being sensitive to the negative PR the IDF would only have targeted with due cause. Too much damage to be a swinger that ALWAYS happens - see http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-26511743 for a recent example. With the bomb shelters they have provided for the general populace Israel is ALWAYS going to lose "the suffering of the innocents" PR campaign....
  6. Excellent article, reflects my own sentiments entirely.... Nothing in there that the better-informed haven't known for years.....
  7. Hamas are going to fight to the last Palestinian civilian...
  8. If I was an Israeli I'd be thinking murdering these kids is a tad unfair. The IDF are deliberately targeting civilians, especially children??? Oh no, they're not, are they. It's the other lot that are doing that.... With the cost of munitions you can be sure that the IDF would strike specific targets. They'll have the odd swinger but that's the way it goes. Of course, amidst all the wailing and gnashing of teeth and rending of garments the fact that Hamas have bought this on their own people will be under-played somewhat. I think it's disgusting the way Hamas use their dead as a propaganda card. Firing rockets at Israel and then taking the inevitable follow-up civilian casualties is viewed as a win / win by the unscrupulous zealots of Hamas...
  9. I suspect that the electorate voted Hamas into power viewing them as protection against the regional superpower next door. However the apparent Hamas policy of "the best defence is attack" is not really very clever. Especially when you are provoking the IDF to strike back. If I was Israeli the civilian casualties in Gaza would appear as fair enough - "You voted them in knowing what they are like - you reap what you sow...."
  10. When the general populace voted Hamas into power the result was always a foregone conclusion.
  11. I suspect the Russians are sending out a very strong signal that they view it as a Russian problem that will be fixed by Russians in a Russian way. After all, they are a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma....
  12. Excellent Aunty Beeb explanation of the demographics that show very clearly how the country is pretty much split in half: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-26367786 It seems it might have been possible to have an independent Ukraine pre-WW2 but Stalin shipped a lot of the natives off to the camps who have been replaced by Russians. The best result is probably partition.
  13. It would appear troops are "occupying" the airport in Sevastopol. They could simply be pro-Russian militia or they could be Russian Federation. I imagine someone is planning ahead for an evacuation.
  14. The really really worrying thing is that some clown put this forward as "a good idea" and the rest of the circus actually fucking agreed with them! Unbelievable! Oh well, they lost what credibility they might have had absolutely years ago so I guess it's just more of the same shit different day...
  15. And to be fair employs a lot of very skilled local people in set design, construction, editing etc. The expansion with be excellent for the UK's film industry but IMO doesn't have to be at Pinewood, it could be located elsewhere. We once had a Year Start jamboree at Pinewood. It has a LOT of empty space. At one time I spent a fair bit of time in that area. The good burghers of Iver are serious NIMBY's. You only have to see the cars parked around The Gurkha to know that they're pretty minted. They also have Slough (happiness is Slough in my rear view mirror) and the ever more dire Langley right next door. So the last thing they want is a large housing estate with the now usual crop of "affordable housing" blighting their pretty little village. So if this "investment" is based solely around developing brownfield in the green belt then I suspect it's not quite the sure-fire bet some have been led to believe....
  16. As a local councillor pointed out on rejecting the latest proposal "Pinewood don't make films, they just rent out buildings..."
  17. Well they haven't built up their navy, including their first aircraft carrier, just so that they can patrol local waters looking for pirates. That aircraft carrier is now based in Qingdao and is tasked with patrolling the waters around - Japan! See http://www.stripes.com/china-s-naval-aspirations-a-blue-water-force-1.226669
  18. I give up. So how much has been spent on other parents missing children?
  19. So he's advocating taking a stand against all those who degrade and subjugate women. Well, there's a few religions I can think of just for starters...
  20. Yes it was the UK. But don't forget you can still write to the CC about any topic and he HAS to reply.
