  1. First flight not dependent on ILS makes final approach on Runway 26 earlier today..
  2. Can you imagine Gatwick, Heathrow or any other airport doing this in such a Mickey Mouse way?
  3. Yea, a few years ago being key. Today and post Brexit they don’t give a flying fig. Years ago I too remember when an airline would find you a hotel and get you there. No more. You’re on your own.
  4. Yes I tried. But the earliest available flights back were Wednesday. People I know are having to either travel to Manchester or travel up to Heysham for the boat. There were no hotels available at Gatwick at 9pm unless you wanted to book into Sofitel at £245 for a night, only to still not be able to get home! Come on Chris Thomas. Please do explain this royal cock up and what YOU are going to do to compensate passengers for their inconvenience???
  5. Easyjet are doing eff all! We’ve been abandoned and left to our own devices!
  6. Including me. A right royal fuck up by DOI again!!!
  7. The principal issue here is that deep down we are too comfortable as a nation. Most of us despite the current economic squeeze are doing ok. For most, the biggest issue is whether to have chicken or steak for tea - or whether we go to Benidorm or a Cruise to the Med. Unfortunately, our distance from the reality of the less fortunate is multiplied by 10 for most politicians, who in the main are so out of touch with anything outside their Tynwald bubble that I lost faith in every single one of them some time back. Chris Thomas is, in my opinion, the epitome of the wittering fool who if he is really as intelligent and intellectually brilliant as he tries to portray, conceals it spectacularly well. Between him and Moorehouse…I rest my case.
  8. I think it is acceptable in this instance.
  9. Maybe They were practicing their routine for the Guild? https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/uk-media-take-drag-queen-in-isle-of-man-schools-claims-to-print/
  10. I’ve no reason to doubt it happened as reported..
  11. But seriously though..WTAF!!!!??? What an utter embarrassment to the Island and the school. Who let this “person” into school anyway? Were they not vetted? Was there no discussion around their proposed content? What a shit show!
  12. In all truth, this is probably just one more example of a project that seemed necessary at the time (2017) but got postponed and postponed..then suddenly someone remembered it hadn’t been done..by which point it was no longer needed at all, but there was £3k spare anyway..and it gave the lads something to do afterall.. The government and and civil service are often so detached from reality that they don’t see or understand that things change constantly and what is “vital” one minute can be history the next. If they weren’t so focused on pandering to the vocal minority and actually applying some critical faculty they may stand a chance of stopping pointless projects like this.
  13. Do you think this scandal might become known as Gategate?
  14. DOI. Take your pick..there’s enough dickheads In senior management there to sink a cruise ship tender.
  15. But, when most sensible people are left with a heap of shit thats untaxed they scrap them..not claim them to be Taxis..
  16. Its a licence for either 6 or 12 months. There is nothing to stop you taxing a car:bile/motorhome just for 6 months, then leave it sat untaxed for the other 6 months, provided its not on the public highway whilst untaxed (aka doing a “Moore”). As a private vehicle only needs a Roadworthiness Test if untaxed for 2 years, you could carry buying “seasonal” tax indefinitely..
  17. The “Active Travel” strategy was purely a tick box exercise to be seen to do something about the environment and fat people. It was poorly conceived and executed. I’m still mentally scarred by a photo of the then Minister-Ray Harmless- on an e-bike with a helmet on and fluorescent jacket over his suit. He looked more in need of a treadmill than an e-bike. Tynwald’s answer to Boris Johnson..
  18. In the UK it would be SORN’d and picked up by several of the hundreds of thousands ANPR cameras if it went on the road..here, they could drive for months or years without ever being caught.
  19. I’m just waiting to see how long it takes for the penny drop with the Minister that introducing 6 months tax for any value will seriously cock up the department’s revenue stream, which will upset Treasury. Introducing monthly direct debits will just cause bedlam. So 6 months..ok, so how many people will pay for 6 months, let that expire, wait for 4-6 weeks then do another 6 months? Its an easy way to mitigate the £6 surcharge. Boom. Direct debits..pay one month, get a disc then cancel. Get a letter, wait 4 weeks, pay one more month..in the meantime the minute you are in arrears you also have vehicles on the road illegally. Let’s face facts. As I understand it we have a single mobile ANPR camera on this island..and I can’t recall seeing it out anywhere for months. I should add I don’t for one minute condone avoidance of paying car tax, but many won’t be so morally inclined, especially when for many money is tight. Thoughts @Chris Thomas

    TT 2023

It the TT the next victim or will MGP go first?? https://www.iomtoday.co.im/news/breaking-nw200-and-ulster-gp-cancelled-594236
  21. Its also not technically possible because of our VAT agreement with the UK..sadly.
  22. Direct debits..does this mean the end to Martin Moore popping up in court every year for failing to pay his?
  23. I assume Smack Me Bitch Up wouldn’t pass muster as a new anthem?
  24. Change the lyrics..also, in my experience they only sang the chorus, including the ubiquitous reference to Weetabix..
  25. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-64488231 Reasonable or Woke gone mad? Maybe we should ban Mack the Knife too and ban public performances of Shakespeare?
