I tend to start doing a few little odd jobs when trying to get through to Sky. You can't get that time back again so use it wisely

immortalpuppet
being put on hold for longer than 2 minutes is arse. The company you are calling should take ownership and realise it may take some time to deal with you and offer you a call back or a direct contact line. %age
I had to phone my bank and got diverted to the UK office. I was on hold for 59 minutes 18 seconds. I know that because I have the Skype recording. If I ever catch insomnia I might try playing it back.
Addie
I remember years ago trying to contact an insurance company once. Lionel Richie's "Hello" was looped to play throughout the queueing time - well over 35 minutes. So I wrote a complete set of lyrics to go with the never-ending melody. I remember the chorus started something like Hello, is there anybody there?
Slim
40 mins with Sky, then I found the non premium number and got answered very rapdily!
asitis
if you phone sky to upgrade your package you will be answered almost immediately, if you want to downgrade about 1hr they admitted to me on the phone it was a simple business strategy. I had a similar thing with MBNA. They alerted me to a possible fraud on my card, but I couldn't get though to anyone at all - even their "24 hour" line had a message saying the office was closed. So I chose the "increase your limit" option and got through to them straight away. Seems they're only interested if you trying to get into more debt. bluemonday
If I'm not obliged to contact a specific company and am just ringing up to make an enquiry and its not answered within a short time, I normally lose interest and chose the next on the list. jimbms
as sausages says chose the option which can mean a sale for them as from being involved in setting up lines in many call centres it is the same operator but each option has a priority level, sales being the highest cnacellation the lowest, also first look on saynoto0870.com they have a list of non premium lines i.e. begining with 01 hence if you have a wimanx account or the mt free call account it costs you nothing

MilitantDogOwner
Trying to organise a sat link from Saudi to the UK. Saudi telecoms kept us on hold for 3 hours. Nothing like a blazing hot room, broken equipment, no sign of a cup of tea and a guy who only knows 2 words in English "Hold please" to make your day full of sunshine.
