Gatwick Route By Easyjet

I would agree with that.

But they do leave themselves potentially open to a challenge with their multiple leg booking process.

Agreed. They shouldn't really be offering multiple flights under one booking but then absolving themselves of any responsibility if the late arrival of one of their flights causes you to miss another of their connecting flights on the same booking. You've got to make a distinction with what you offer.

I've recently started booking on Emirates flights directly from the IOM. The initial flight to Birmingham or Manchester is with Flybe (Stobart air). However I can check my bags through to Dubai/Hongkong etc from the IOM and also get my boarding passes issued here .

Emirates will be responsible in case of any delays (they have to put me on another flight even for weather delays etc). I no longer have to book a hotel stay in the UK while flying out.

I also get the full luggage allowance from the IOM itself.

The fares are quite good (obviously not during TT).When I last checked they were around £80 more than the equivalent ticket from Manchester which is good value.

PS: I suspect that the tickets have to be booked directly on the emirates website so that you are covered for delays etc.

Is Kipper99 a local resident? I only ask as money online is the online small claims system for UK claims, a Plaintiff needs have a UK address. What He/she needs to do is take out a small claims action in the Isle of Man Courts and make an application for it to be transferred to the appropriate local Court to Easyjets head office.

I have done the same, twice. On both occasions I had problems getting through security in MAN with the boarding pass issued in IOM. I had to go to the Emirates desk to have the pass re-validated. Second time around I asked why I had to do that and no one could give me a definitive answer. So not sure whether the issue was directly related to security or the fact that the for some reason the code on the pass was unreadable/incompatible.

You don't need to do that. On landing in Manchester go to flight connections in the terminal as soon as you land (stay airside and don't go landside)

Carry a copy of your ticket with you in addition to the boarding pass issued from IOM.

They will be able to let you into the entry point of flight connections area even without a boarding pass after verifying your photo ID.( IOM airport will sometimes be unable to issue a boarding pass for your EK flight due to computer issues)

Your photo is taken at this stage and You are issued a matched slip of paper with a bar code.

This paper will work like the boarding pass with the bar code at the security barriers to reach the flight connection centre.

From the flight connection centre you can directly enter airside on terminal 1 and go to the gate where your Emirates flight is boarding .

I suspect that you had got into trouble because you went landside and then tried to enter airside through security at MAN.

You shouldn't have to pass through security at Manchester if you do it this way.

My experience was in 2013. So it's possible that the procedure has changed. This what happened:

I was air-side all the time until after the reader (presumably of a similar type that is used to go through the current security) didn't recognise the boarding pass at the connection desk. When that happened I was escorted along a staff corridor (seemed to walk for miles) and then came out close to the EK sales desk, land-side. even showing the e-ticket made no difference.

I know another Manx resident where this happened but that was in LGW.

  • 1 month later...

Well, I got the cheque for 4 EU261 x €250, in sterling payable to me today. Taken 14 months. Covering letter apologised for their mix up and claimed they never pay EU261 into a credit card or debit card account. It's payable to the passenger, not the person who paid.

Once I've cleared it I'm suing for the out of pocket expenses using moneyclaims on line. I can use a relatives address. It doesn't have to be my residential address, just somewhere in England I can be served at.

I've had a consumer law charity obtain a barristers opinion, QC no less. She confirms that as, during the booking process, I was invited to add flights, with no warning, on the same booking number, the point to point exclusion is an unfair contract term.

Just tidying up, but the suggestion I could sue here and enforce in England is wrong. There has been a Manx Small Claim where easyJet successfully raised a defence on jurisdictional grounds. The T&C specify the courts of England.

You don't have to live somewhere to go to court there. You have to have an address where you can be contacted. That's what it says in moneyclaims on line. More importantly it's where easyJet are and where their assets are and their Terms say youve agreed to sue them in England only.

I've used it for clients.

I see a lot of these claim companies have sprung up like parasites. Advertising here about flights too.

The bit I never get is the banks that provide banking facilities to the charlatan companies trying all they can to break them with PPI claims etc!

Moneyclaims on line is the English Courts a service online claims portal. Electronic small claims. You submit the claim, pleading and court fee via an on line portal and, if it's not defended, can apply for judgement on line.

It isn't a claim company, it doesn't charge a success fee.

resolver.co.uk is also another option .

My friend has managed to get the EU261 comp from flybe for a cancelled flight 3 months ago.I have just raised a claim using the same for my flybe flight which was cancelled on 15th July.

I just got a form off the flight service desk in Gatwick. Flybe did try to dispute it at the time but folded. 350 quid in vouchers per person.

Easyjet are better according to my friend who uses the airline 3/4 times a month..They pay out no questions asked within a few weeks and they have claim form on their own website.

Flybe on the other hand are very shifty. No claim form on the website and they know that half of the people don't know their rights.

NB: Recent experience 2 weeks ago on IOM. They kept on delaying the flight for around 3 hours . Then asked pax with connections to come to the checkin desk and then cancelled the flights.

When I tried to rebook 3 hrs after my flight was supposed to leave there were no flights for the next 36 hrs to the UK.

I know that sometimes @#££# happens, however I wish companies would be honest with their customers.

As long as you quote the relevant EU legislation they haven't a leg to stand on. I've had three x £300 credit note now for cancelled flights. You can take the £200 cash on offer instead but as I use them a lot the extra £100 each time comes in handy. Be prepared for them to try and fob you off with the old 'liaising with our partner Stobart Air' argument for a while but stick with it, stand firm and they pay out.

Makes you wonder how much longer this route will be viable with the constant cancellations and reimbursements. Flybe/Stobart not EasyJet.
