parchedpeas
Noticed recently that I'd not been given a pound not in change for ages, maybe even six months. Are they being slowly withdrawn and replaced with the coin? And if so, is it worth stockpiling them now for sale on ebay later in life? The 50p note currently sells for £1 on ebay: it's a nice way to double your money.

Moghrey Mie
Pennies and 5 pence coins could go too as they are barely worth anything these days.
x-in-man
I dunno, get 100 pennies together and you have a pound. They are giving them away free in garages now .. Another fucking American imported idea.
Mission
Which garages are giving away free pennies? I've not seen many £1 notes recently and I deal with cash every day. I got a rather tatty one the other day though. I might keep a few if I get any decent ones in the future.
La_Dolce_Vita
I think I am the only person who prefers £1 notes to change. I like having a lighter wallet than anything laden with change.

And you feel richer as well, I keep thinking they are fivers.

Tempus Fugit
I remember my brother years ago going to buy some washers and they were something like 10p each, so he went home and drilled holes in pennies
x-in-man
An idea I have been using for a good few years now. This picture sums it up quite well - another American import for which I apologise. 'Sums it up' - see what I did there?

Cambon
They were saying on TV a few weeks ago that a 1P piece is actually worth 1.6P melt value in copper, and a 2P is worth 3.2P melt value. As a result, they are going to take one or the other out of circulation and replace the other with a cheaper metal coin.
