The Inspector
I have heard talk of a Tesco Express for the disused IoM Bank building in Onchan. Anyone else heard this?
x-in-man
I heard it was going to be a pizza express, or was it a JDspoons .. the guy with the plans for a halfords told me while measuring up for IKEA.
oldmanxfella
I have heard talk of a Tesco Express for the disused IoM Bank building in Onchan. Anyone else heard this? I couldn't imagine a worse spot. No drop off outside. No parking for miles. Wedged right between two sets of busy traffic lights. So yes it's the sort of mad idea that would probably get through planning.
Moghrey Mie
I have heard talk of a Tesco Express for the disused IoM Bank building in Onchan. Anyone else heard this? Is there a car park round the back? Otherwise I can forsee problems.
j2bad
Perhaps a tesco express could go in the old Celtic trader site, might bring some footfall to the always defunct village walk.
x-in-man
I don't think Tesco are made of money. They probably couldn't afford the 200 gazzillion pound rent for a village walk unit.
Dave Hedgehog
Don't Shoprite own the village walk. I dare say they'd be less than keen on Tesco
finlo
Onchan is a dead hole, with their money problems at the mo i can't see them chancing their arm on such ventures.
finlo
Perhaps a tesco express could go in the old Celtic trader site, might bring some footfall to the always defunct village walk. I heard George C Romero is filming his next zombie film in Village Walk. It's exactly like the set of one of those early 1970s zombie movies. The ones where there is a completely empty shopping mall and then out of nowhere all the zombie flesh eaters suddenly turn up and try to eat the 2 shoppers and the one remaining security guard left. Every time I park my car and wander into the place I always look back and wish I had packed a pump action shotgun in the boot just in case. Iv'e actually suggested this as as buisness case for Village walk!

Many if not most Tesco Express shops are not owned by Tesco but are franchises.
Slim
I have heard talk of a Tesco Express for the disused IoM Bank building in Onchan. Anyone else heard this? Na, it's going to be a Starbucks. Or a Nandos. Or a pizza hut.
Katman
Another rumour. I doubt very much if the Isle of Man Building in Onchan would be big enough. It would make a good Costa Coffee shop though.
Albert Tatlock
There seems to be a trend for setting up these express stores in old banks. Couple in Southport and a few other places in the UK I've seen. Tesco and Sainsbury. Lots of banks closing everywhere.
In fact . . .
It would make much more sense to have a Tesco Express in Onchan, where the population is about 9,100 and through which thousands of people drive every day, than Castletown, which has a population of 3,100 and which is the only town or village in the island that has a bypass.
