Outer Douglas, house wired with Cat6

What is the relevance of the Cat6?

Who installed it? Is it just cat6 cable or is it a certified cat6 installation?

If whether its cat6 isn't relevant than why does it matter whether its a cat6 cable or a cat6 certified installation ? ;-)

People are DIY installing Cat 6 cable, and electricians are throwing it in all over the place.

Fitted correctly and within specification then Cat 6 is better than Cat 5, but a proper in spec cat 5 installation is better than a crappy DIY/dodgy electrician Cat 6 installation.

People should just assume that because the cable has a 6 rather than a 5 on it that the overall installation and so the performance is better

agree completely, so in respect of reported speeedtest for a broadband connection, its irrelevant whether the wired network is CAT5 or CAT6 ...

I got ping 40, 21 down 2 up on a wifi phone in Douglas. Have no idea if this is good or bad.

Ramsey, Sure-broadband.

35mS Ping

13.05Mbps download

0.69Mbps upload.

Actually quite consistent, although does occasionally burp.

Quite usable, but excruciating for uploading videos to YouTube.

Mrs. Woolley reckons MT broadband is shoite tonight and she's gone to bed in disgust. I don't argue.

It was, tried watching Alan Partridge, alpha papa, on catch up then. It was running in 45 second bursts so gave up and spent a fortune on eBay.
