You said you suspected he didn't race to prove anything. Every time he races surely he's also doing it to prove he's top dog? Is that not the point of any competition?

I'll give you a clue...One reason is money and the other is that he has nothing better to do.

The 50cc class was always a good spot. The little Suzi's and Gilera's had some scream...

boring really with a staggered start, even the 125's weren't overly exciting,  with the slower speeds of the smaller machinery on the current course  the throttle will be pinned most of the time with the bikes not actually increasing speed and with  few places with a need to slow down it would end up the lightest jockey won.

maybe something like the old Yamaha LC series with all the same bikes?  but add in a handicap system so everybody started out with the same axle loadings to even things up it could then maybe it could be worth a look.

I don't agree.

He's got no chance of winning anything other than the big bike races.   Or Electric which no one really cares about because that is all about the bike rather than the rider.

And last year he knew he had virtually no chance of winning those races (unless Dunlop and Hutchy fell off).

So he doesn't race to prove anything these days.  You could argue a few years back he might have felt he had a point to prove (when he had a really poor week and came back and dominated the Senior) but he doesn't have anything to prove.  He has a living to earn and enjoys it.
