It was in the local rag some time ago, it came to nothing luckily, he was wanting every household on the Island to pay a tax to prop up all leisure activities so Betty in Bride would be paying the same amount as Randy in Douglas who has 9 kids and uses all the amenities without traveling.    It was a crackpot idea he wanted all the libraries to join together as well to prop up the one in Douglas who rent premises so are a big drain on the ratepayers, it was a while ago, perhaps 10 months so I cannot give you any pick up on it.   His year is Island 2018 was hardly a raving success either he just tagged on to existing event except for a very expensive concert that was sponsored by Culture Manx or some other charity which is sponsored by guess who..the government and where do they get the money from ?    First correct answer gets a prize, which is a pat on the back.

Ah, there is value in some of what he says

But it's carefully hidden

He cues stuff up for open debate but it's very rarely picked up

He has still to master the art of getting straight to the point. That's why he's a waffler.

Probably worth reminding people that it wasn't Thomas's daft idea, it was Quayle's daft idea (in his programme for government) which was given to Skelly and his merry men to organise.  Which they didn't until it was nearly the start of the Year, when the Cabinet Office took it over and cobbled together what they could.  It was all fairly pathetic, but the real blame in this case lies elsewhere.

Mr Thomas, who is known to relish data and statistics, ...

.....added:  ’It is not appropriate to use that Job Link data as a reliable means of measuring either the size of the working population or the public sector, or even to make comparisons between the two, as people recorded in Job Link data include those who have left employment but their records are not closed down, and those who are not active in employment but retain employment records.’

How about those who have been recruited but don't yet appear on the headcount because the records haven't been similarly updated?
