He is absolutely full of crap but will no doubt convince the government to invest money to encourage the leaving Manx to return.   In truth there are far more opportunities to further careers away and more diversity in the choice of work.   The elderly may cost a bit more in healthcare, although a lot of people I know are getting hips etc done privately I n desperation, but they have paid into the pot along the way, also years ago if you were on the dole you were put out to work n the roads, I do not say this is a good thing but it certainly focused the mind.    I can remember a headline wayback that said Prison empty...and there was often low occupancy now it is full of drug dealers and this is costing a fortune to keep them there.    It would be interesting to know how much it costs to keep a prisoner per day in the Jurby Hilton the leccy bill must be ridiculous for a start, have you seen all the perimeter lights, then there are the guitar lessons !!!!     The old people get blamed for all that is wrong but if it was not for the grandparents doing unpaid childminding the parents would not be able to go out to work, also all the charity shops would be short of staff and there are a lot of golden oldies helping at Nobles Hospital.    There are also a lot still working and paying money in.    We are valuable and it is about time this was recognised.

We must try harder. We're the oldest continuous government in the world ever. They can't take that one away from us.

And we nearly got The King's Speech over here (but then the Isle of Man Film Industry got found out)

And now we know it is. 4th oldest population, apparently.

So they say over and over again like they say "We have to grow the economically active population" over and over again until it sticks. Obvious Kalergi driven bollocks. We have a load of over 65's because they went out of their way to keep luring them here for years. Simple solution -  just enact the resident act  -

https://www.gov.im/about-the-government/departments/cabinet-office/information-archive/government-initiatives/residency-controls/

 - Then we could control who comes in including the amount of OAP's we have the facilities for. They will never do that.

The fall in birth rate isn't exactly going to be helped by making abortions easier to have is it, but they made sure we got those new abortion laws.

Why would most of our young people return when most of the good jobs now will go to the people companies import? , and they'll make sure we get the changes in "equality" laws that allows this to continue until there is little left for anyone wishing to return.

The UK's film industry is just as bent, wasn't there something about the studio in Wales fairly recently doing similar things?

These fluctuating stats are pretty worthless, we go slightly up or down so what? - we went up by thousands and thousands in just a few decades  - which seemed to result in our quality of life reducing and loss of facilities -most leisure buildings, hotels etc. seemed to get turned into offices or apartments, look at the state of the hospital for example  - how many have contributed to it ?

That's some stupid shit right there.

Is it really? - I don't recall there being a groundswell or push for this any any major way before they decided to bring it in themselves.

Will it result in higher or lower birthrates?

Why would we even dream of increasing the population? Only those in the machine see it as a way of feeding said machine!
