Great news for the island's financial services reputation

Exactly Woolley. TJN happily ignore them and the UK and Belgium. If TJN want real credibility, deal with those countries first. It is just easier to attack and bully smaller groups / countries without the backing.

No, I'm not saying that. I'm saying the people in power in Luxembourg were Nazi sympathisers, pre - during - and post WW2.

I'm sure there were some, just as there were in Britain, but most were opposed and the Germans invaded.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Luxembourg#Second_World_War

(Admittedly they were chummier with the Germans in the First World War, which the people didn't like and the Grand Duchess had to resign)

It's in the EU so it automatically avoids criticism. Same with Ireland and Netherlands.

If you look at the TJN article, you'll find that the EU doesn't escape criticism:

Quote

EU hypocrisy
The Corporate Tax Haven Index documents the sobering hypocrisy of the European Union. Excluding the UK, the EU is responsible for over a third (35 per cent) of the world’s corporate tax avoidance risks as measured by the Corporate Tax Haven Index.

HRH The Chief Minister opening his trap again, as reported on the Nations Propaganda Mouthpiece. We as an island are on a hiding to nothing, whatever we reply and try to rebut allegations. We take action, introduce legislation (taking to much action which stops businesses from conducting businesses). Damned if we do and Damned if we don’t. Really we should be quiet, take the attack on the chin and soak it up. If HRH The Chief Minister had a respectable business career, a lawyer or an accountant, I’m sure whatever he said may well be respected, unfortunately he is a farmer .................

Don’t know whether he is a full time, part time or bit farmer.

he should really keep his mouth shut - say nothing.

He does a lot of dick waving - again boasting how the IOM has implemented legislation and its bigger better bolder and brighter than our rivals. Until the next Panorama investigation hits our screens, which could be something IOMG related!

Landlord Farmer with farming tenant(s) in place isn't it..?

At least IIRC that's what he claimed when he was quizzed about the grants situation some time ago?

He'll not be the only one? It is/was the Countryside CARE Scheme. Allegedly for meaningfully tendering to our environment and surroundings etc etc.

To the tune of over £7M pa. Or we'd starve. Apparently.
