Who did this guy piss off?

Done for keeping pava spray in a locked cupboard, in his own house, that he bought in a foreign country to protect him from being robbed in his motor home when on holiday. Now also facing a disciplinary hearing at work.

Society has been protected in exactly what way? I wonder who he pissed off enough for the cops to get a warrant to be able to fuck him over like this?

Just read that. Another low hanging fruit victory for crime stats.

It’s just bizarre how would they even know there was pava in the house (that had been there for 4 years, in a locked cupboard)? Looks like he’s been royally screwed over by someone and now having an awkward investigation at work on top. As you say it’s easier than arresting a drugs dealer for dealing drugs or going looking for proper crime.

Maybe people should try to understand that the Police know a bit more than the public about this.

A little thought would not go amiss before prejudging.

Would people say the same if the guy had bought guns legally and stored them in his camper ?

Not much different really.

But this WAS a crime.  Crimes are Boolean.  They are either crimes or not crimes.

A conversation in a pub...with an 'audience'? Who knows?

A quiet word, a little understanding and a confiscation would have sufficed IMO. An opportunity to hand over as part of a regular amnesty. Possibly a caution.

Anyone that has experience of being held up...has a different view of the world than 90% of us.

But the need to potentially screw up a career too?

Overkill.

A very low level technical crime. If only he hadn't tried to protect his family from being robbed on holiday and had realized that such a silly trivial thing sitting in a locked cupboard was a crime in the IOM when it isn’t in most other places around the world. It does make you wonder about how the crime solved stats are compiled here.

The guy has been critical of police methods years ago.

This is the Isle of Man and it doesn't do to go against the grain. Once they know where you live, they can wait....

I don’t believe that for one second. There will be more to this case than what people are guessing about. This isn’t Russia.

It s certainly a crime for a member of the public to posess over here and rightly so. What's more it's a crime - end of.
