Always remember ROg: First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a socialist......etc Or indeed your pc, and your phone. But of course those things aren't capable of such things are they, and you certainly haven't loaded the software. Rog
12 minutes ago, thesultanofsheight said: Yes if you’re worried about burglars it’s clearly much better to keep a massive big fish gutting knife in your unlocked cutlery draw that you could instantly stab someone to death with than some pava spray in a locked cupboard which could harmlessly incapacitate someone for a maximum of 15 seconds (after it took you 25 seconds to undo the lock on the safe). It makes so much sense. After all having a deadly knife in a kitchen knife draw in your own house isn’t illegal. It's best to maintain good insurance cover and keep anything of value locked in a bank box or hidden while bling and crap stuff is there to be seen and so low hanging fruit. It's easy to boast about responding with knives and the like but in reality when facing a couple of knife welding goons all anyone with any sense wants to do and will do is avoid personal injury. Just let the SOB's have what they want, after all they're the experts. We've got some security bits and bobs but with the emphasis on capturing evidence without it being seen. We've also got our old dog but all she'd do would be sit down wagging her tail and giving a typical collie smile.

They are either crimes or not crimes. if it is a so called important person then it becomes not in the public interest to prosecute them even though they are bang to rights. Or does that change depending on the colour or ethnic background of the burglar? Surely it’s only the white ones that you hand your worldly good to and claim on the insurance? Now also facing a disciplinary hearing at work. http://www.iomtoday.co.im/article.cfm?id=53978 Society has been protected in exactly what way? I wonder who he pissed off enough for the cops to get a warrant to be able to fuck him over like this? I wouldn't worry too much about the disciplinary hearing - it looks like defence counsel pleading. All it actually says is "He may have to deal with the regulatory body that oversees his profession" (he seems to be a certified accountant) and I suspect this sort of thing doesn't really worry them that much. He seems to have his own business, a recruitment agency. It does seem slightly an over-reaction though. You can't help wondering if they were looking for something else, didn't find it and ended up prosecuting this as a sort of consolation prize. It does seem to legal to possess it in France (though not to carry it in all circumstances). The fact he was given a conditional discharge suggests the magistrates didn't take it that seriously either. Whether he has annoyed the police in the past I don't know. He was a Keys candidate back in 2011 and a Douglas councillor at that time.

Yes I was aware of that hence my question. Who might he have pissed off? He might of been planning to stand again. But now he has a criminal conviction .... Not a pacifist nor in any way biased when facing thugs with the will and ability to do us harm. Instead focussing on what is really important and a bit of tsirung it ain't. Derek Flint
Bit of perspective. PAVA is a prohibited weapon under s.17b of the 1947 Firearms Act. Section 5 in the UK. It is innthe same category as a machine gun. He has got off lightly,

Not death by stabbing from a cutlery drawer full of kitchen knives which every normal person can legally own and use for self defense without fear of being arrested.
