There, she was the lead computational biologist and was instrumental in the introduction of DNA barcoding and metabarcoding methods to routine operational use within DEFRA.

yes its related to public health in a kind of way. But she is not a specialist in virology or immunology nor even public health really.

fair respect, she is an expert in her field...which is  related to the issue no doubt.

However, and no offence Dr G, but whist I do trust and respect your views, there are many many more people all over the world whom I would trust the opinions of more.

They don't have a science perspective. They find anonymous images of text more convincing than any amount of data. It's sad, but I think it's a losing battle. We just have to accept that there's a (very loud, but very small) number of people who won't be vaccinated. I don't think it's going to cause much societal harm, though I do have concerns over some of them being customer-facing workers.

yes its related to public health in a kind of way. But she is not a socialist in virology or immunology or even public health.

Well for the older kids perhaps parents can put a bit of trust into their kids, it will help them with their development skills into young adults, the pampering/cotton wool effect of having your kids at home until they’re into their 20s and still doing their washing, cooking and cleaning for them really shows through at times.

As for the younger kids, unfortunately for single parents in particular it’s going to be tough and an uphill challenge, there will need to be some sort of support for people and employers in place.

I was born half a century too soon.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I literally prayed for a situation like we have, but I have to admit a pandemic was beyond the scope of my wildest dreams.

My point was in answer to @Nom de plume claiming to be equally qualified.

Dr Glover is an established scientist, whose background and training not only specialise her in her field but give her the skills to process and disseminate information and data, as well as being able to identify the shortcomings in those approaches.

Note that a lot of established public health and virology scientists and professors share similar views as well.

We need to make it completely impractical for people to function if they have not been vaccinated.  Anyone with a genuine medical documented reason could be exempt.

If I'm running a customer facing business at the moment the staff would be in face masks and I'd be wanting them vaccinated.

There are many people on this Island, and indeed on this forum who would satisfy your description. I would include myself in that category. However, like Dr G I am neither a virologist, immunologist nor a public health expert. However, being a professionally qualified and experienced scientist I can spot a mile off someone who knows what they are talking about. I would put Dr G in that category no doubt. However, I would exclude the many lemmings on here that 'like' any post that mentions her name just because it mentions her name from said category. I sure she would feel the same.

If I was making a remake of life of Brian I would approach all said lemmings with a view to headhunting them for the extras in the Life of Brian.

Mr Happier Diner (or many other people) is an established scientist, whose background and training not only specialise her in her field but give her the skills to process and disseminate information and data, as well as being able to identify the shortcomings in those approaches. As well as a penchant for the odd Pizza of course in my case.
