Heh.

Pointing out that this virus is just like some we already live with and that this one will be just they same once everyone has some immunity against it is often met with total disdain. Pointing out it is likely that recent infection with another betacoronavirus would provide you with protection from this one gets you called 'anti-science'. Pointing out that we should learn lessons from history is met with 'there is no proof, its only a theory'. Point out that the last proper coronavirus pandemic still has consequences today and it blows their minds.

Here's a little tale for those with interest in what the fuck is going on

Yes, but at least it gave those who wanted 10 minutes of fame their time in the spotlight.

Need to stop worrying about new variants and start focusing on the treatment of those that get sick.

We need to get out of the pandemic mentality and start having an endemic approach. Because that's what it is now.

The transition to endemicity is a little way off yet.

We’re well on the way and in theory already there “Covid is now killing half as many people per day as a bad flu year as experts say pandemic will be on the brink of becoming 'endemic' after Omicron wave subsides”

FFS if you believe the daily Mail you’re in trouble, personally think we’re at least 6 months off normal with Europe in particular ramping up restrictions particularly on unvaccinated

Interesting to see this today in response to the Headmasters Award at RGS. Six pupils and teachers only two were in masks. It probably shows how concerned people are about the risks regardless of how much stirring Tim Glover is attempting to do about mask wearing in schools.

The extra-curricular activity was, "Viruses and how to help spread them" 😁

It's weird. Are there any actual real world studies on the benefits of children wearing face coverings in the school environment?

With Glover harping on all the time It's become a bit like the issue with uniform at Ballakermeen earlier this year where they were sending children home for having the wrong shade of colour of shoe.

It's partly down to teachers not having experience in the real world and letting the rules overtake the reason kids are supposed to be at school.

Good presentation from Alf and Kathryn Magson but I couldn't make head nor tail of those graphs. The U.K. slides are no better at the Boris briefings.

Dear god no.

The Magson woman was more appealing.

Must have been her Swansong. Last performance before accumulated leave over Xmas and New Year and return to whence she was seconded from.

I have now finished my secondment on the Isle of Man and emails directed to this account will not longer be actioned.

Please redirect to the corporate team in DHSC -  xxxxx.xxxxxx@gov.im or xxxxx.xxxxxxx @gov.im who will respond or redirect your email accordingly.

Here you go https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/evidence-summary-covid-19-children-young-people-and-education-settings

and a news article about the same https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-59895934

To force something on a group of people 'for their own good' needs clear evidence of the benefits outweighing the harms. That report does not do that, and in the trials they reckon that mask wearing might have contributed to a 0.6% reduction in absence. Woopty fucking doo.

They make learning harder though, there's clearer evidence of that in that report.

LFTs, yesterday, 118. Today 270. £300 anybody?

Yup 300 notes only after you've been off for 4 days, from the people that brought you 70% furlough when even the uk paid 80. And started it on the 10th of january. Absolute windfall. There would have been thousands per day had jeeves not cottoned on to it in time
