I thought Shimmins was the junior member?

Isn't the junior member the one that polled fewest votes at the most recent election, not the one who has served for the least time? Perhaps I was mistaken.

Maybe in the Gilbertian topsyturvy world of Manx politics. Everywhere else it’s length of service, except where two people are first elected on same date when votes count.

Actually I don't think that last bit is correct.  Seniority between members elected at the same time is usually based on who gets sworn in first.  That's why Cregeen is Father of the House rather than Watterson.  Seating in the Keys is now based on who got more votes, so maybe nominal seniority is the same.

2 minute meet your candidates and the last 5 mins of each mannin line.

It's a shame that I was asked about Internet bullies and domestic abuse.... When neither of those things are things I'm running off of the back of.

I am hoping for actual reform and improving quality of life for as many as possible, yet I'm finding it difficult to get the "nation's station" to talk about that....

I’m torn in Middle.  Do I vote for one of the these useless feckwits or pull my cock off with mole grips?

Anyone got some large mole grips?. - will pay cash, over the odds and collect ASSP.

Technically you're the opposite of torn.

As it stands, unless Bill or someone else runs... You have the option to vote for BOTH useless feckwits, rip off your cock AND run yourself. :)

I'm eager for more candidates to stand forward, as people deserve choice

That being said....

I'm happy to engage with you in regards to any concerns you might have with me standing and hopefully I can ease them a little.

I appreciate that my attitude comes across as informal, but I assure you I'm taking it seriously.

I'm not a career politician, never wanted to be one. We are entering a time, where the same people we have always had, are going to make things worse then they already are.

1/6 of our workforce are on minimum wage. We have the highest drug related death rate in the British Isles (and much of Europe), yet our Advisory Council for the Misuse of Drugs have not reported as legally obligated to since 2014. And I've been actively reminding them for a year. No accountability. Lots of suicides. Breeding going down. No movement towards bettering the quality of life for folks on the island, or for steps in improving the prospects for people on the island.

Our biggest export is intelligent minds and working age people.

I intend to give away 23% of the salary (as that is the percentage difference between minimum wage and living wage) because its not about the money.

I have a good mind for solving complex issues, no interest in career or ministerial roles, and a refusal to back down if I think more can be done. And I do.

I was warned against manx forums, as it being "8 bald blokes arguing over a comb and a waste of your time"

But. There's a very good chance I'm getting elected, and my choices and actions are going to directly change affect your life. I'm aiming for that to be a good thing. And for people to support me in it.

Curious to see any sources for these claims if you have them?

No we don't.  The last figures available are for 2015-17 and give a rate of  8.7 per 100,000 (14.4 M; 3.3 F) for "Deaths from drug misuse".  This isn't good, the average for England is 4.3 (6.3/2.3).  But there are places in England such as Blackpool 18.5 (25.3/11.6).  I haven't checked, but rates may be even higher in Scotland.

And there's plenty aside from that, as well as anecdotal evidence.

I did also fudge a detail. It's actually 1 in 6 workers on a wage below living wage, which is considered to be 19.5k a year..not on flat rate minimum wage. I'm doing a lot of the chatter side between jobs, without my laptop in front of me... But, I'll put my hands up when I do get it wrong.

I'll try and find the quote. I'm 99% sure it was on another thread on this page. But. That's what I was told. Yet, here I am... Because I don't feel its a waste of my time. As I don't believe that any one person is less entitled or should have any less say in their government. I've taken a lashing, and I'll undoubtedly continue to do so.... But, everyone always complains they have the same type of politicians. Then, when a different one comes along, they either try to fit in the mould to get elected, which makes them lose integrity or they're scrutinised with far more detail then the ones who should be... As it happens I do have quite a bit of marketing experience. But I'm imagining that's not what you were actually asking about?

Tough crowd! Just figured it was more digestible than the whole index it references... I could set up a discord server with all of the studies and search for everything I talk about. Though, I don't think many people would actually use it.
