And I thought you had inside knowledge!

No pay rise this year, yet.  Still being negotiated, but the only offer from Manx Care has been a below inflation figure, ie a pay cut in real terms.

And before you accuse me of moaning, I’m not. I’m paid well.  But this isn’t about consultants, it’s about carers and nursing staff, who are not.  A real-world pay cut is not going to do anything for recruitment and retention, let alone morale.

I am sorry, I got that wrong. When/why did the link with NHS England/DDRB break?

So a few problems it would seem up at nobles early in the week, manx radio were trying to get hold of Manx cares head Teresa Cope for some comment and clarity, nothing then she releases a YouTube statement, is she actually on the island at the coal face? Also listened to the two ladies who phoned the mannin line regarding there recent stays in hospital stating staff were basically running on empty which was very worrying. Anyone who chooses to work in that stressful environment as doctors, nurses frontline staff etc has my utmost respect.

She was on The Nations Station today, apparently 53 people were admitted over the weekend and this caused problems, now nearly back to normal.   They also have a large ward out of use as designated for Covid.   I think Manx Care is relatively new and should be given a chance, change does not happen overnight and since Beecroft downgraded Ramsey cottage and transferred a lot of services, endoscopy and colonoscopy included, it has obviously put a strain on Nobles.   It will take a good while to clear up the mess of past actions by various individuals.

Yep I totally agree they have to be given time but not indefinitely and I’d like to see Ramsey cottage upgraded, maybe take back some services I for one don’t mind paying a bit more tax to cover it but alas our government would spaff it on grandiose over budget schemes and endless buzz worded civil servants talking bollocks it’s not rocket science frontline workers are what’s needed cut the endless reams of middle management.

The thing is there are seven days in a week and  people are liable to fall ill on any one of them so why is there only healthcare for five days except for AandE and Medicare which is a good idea but should be more available, A clinic in the South, North and West would take the strain of G.P.s Monday mornings at all the practices are mental ,and give us the service we deserve and have paid for.   I have heard people say the the Health service is great and it is free..no it is not free, we have had deductions taken out of our wage packets from our first day at work and the employers have had to stump up as well I know this pays for other things such as pensions etc.   I was talking to a young mother in the surgery the other day, she had got an emergency appointment because her baby was burning up and she was worried, had this been at the weekend she would have had a problem, Medicare is good but desperately busy and understaffed. She would have rocked up at A and E . but if she had heard the announcement on the radio what then.   We deserve better.

What a dreadful situation.

My partner, in dreadful, real pain in her hand of unknown reason has a GP appointment at just before 4 today, He's concerned enough to send her for an X-Ray.

It's now almost 7pm, no X-Ray yet, no analysis of that, she'll be, if she's lucky, there until at least 9pm, at the earliest!

Manx Care...really.....that's a prime example of a misnomer if I ever witnessed  one.

In my family's experience there is no point of going to Nobles after noon and never at a weekend.

Outside those times you will wait and wait unless you have a compound fracture and/or are bleeding all over the place.....

I did actually 'bleed all over the place' in A&E for over 3 hours recently.

The problem was solved by a lovely doctor in less than 7 minutes.

Is it down to lack of experience/empathy by initial triage?

Lack of staff full stop, its massively under funded and we could not afford to fund it properly.

It should just be a Triage centre that ships you off island to specialists apart from the basics like simple broken bones etc.

Medicine is getting more and more specialised and expensive to give the best treatment.

We can never afford the best doctors or equipment so why keep kidding ourselves?

Get a referral from your GP to a UK specialist and cut out the middle man (Nobles)

Then if you turn up with some bleeding you would be seen a lot quicker.

PPS. I don't envy you the iron tablets, anyone who has taken them for a while will sympathise too with their main side effect... 🙂 Stock up on Kleenex moist toilet tissue would be my main advice.

Still at the hospital.

She went to her GP initially because of the announcements concerning A&E'S problems....Didn't help!!

Just got home now...6 hours at Nobles!

Manx Care, where's any improvement over the old 'regime'
