Most, if not all, of the things it covers are caught by bribery, fraud, etc offences already.

Lots of people seem to think it covers incompetence and could be used to rein in incompetent or negligent politicians and civil servants. But incompetence and poor decision making aren’t criminal and shouldn’t be made so.

Different methods of holding to account are needed for those.

So what is covered by the criminal courts under misconduct in the UK that isn't covered here?

i would think you could get done for something here, not face misconduct charges and carry on regardless, in  England the misconduct conviction may cost you your position/job.

So basically, anyone involved in governmental corruption in any way over here just needs to be able to pass it off as total incompetence instead. Who'd have thought

See MEA loans etc for details?

Doubt it will be successful as Uk, Ireland, Australia have all been doing the same and as far as I know no one has successfully challenged the mandatory quarantine

I know it's not this simple but the choice to come back to the island on the terms offered was one made voluntarily

It will depend on how they wrote the regulations and when they passed and implemented them.  It's not whether governments in general have the right to take these sort of measures - they do for public safety reasons.  It's whether the Manx government did so competently and reasonably.

Which may be more of a problem.
