I have time for both of them. I don’t believe it’s a case of you are for one or the other, nor that you have to be bound by your political affiliation

Dennis Skinner in his book “Sailing close to the Wind” sets out very powerfully his reasons for being a socialist.

And coming from that neck of the woods  I can fully appreciate why Anderson strikes a chord with his constituents (not least himbeing an ex miner)

Skinner was great entertainment from the pulpit, but just another old fashioned utopian communist, full of that old time religion, promising bread, bullshit and salvation for all.

Lee Anderson's politics are rooted in the everyday lives and concerns of real people. Not fantasy politics for the faithful and the true believers.

Anderson is a complete fraud. Someone recently described him thus:

"I am a great fan of the novels of Charles Dickens, and as I was sitting listening to the honourable gentleman, for all the world he reminded me of Mr Scrooge, without the compassion.

"Add into these difficulties the economic damage of Brexit and it is not good enough to tell people who are struggling that they need to buck up, that they need to work more shifts, try harder and buy containers to batch cook. It simply is not good enough. It is complacent and staggeringly insensitive."

Hence Lee "30p" Anderson. According to him that's how much a meal costs. Well, that might be true in the HoC subsidised restaurant where he eats...

This is typical of Anderson:

"Lee Anderson says a family he was trying to help with budgeting were going to McDonald's "two or three times a week" despite using a food bank"

Was he stalking them or something? He would have to be to know that...

He's full of shit...

Food banks are being abused,” he told a Westminster Hall debate. “They are abused, food banks are abused by people who don’t need the food banks – we should target the food banks.”

Mr Anderson: “One particular family I was helping, really helping, and they were going to the food bank two or three times a week to get their groceries and then, you know, I see them in McDonald’s two or three times a week.”

It would help if he would confirm what they were doing in McDonalds.  As far as we know they could have been there working!

It also sounds like an exaggeration.  Are we expected to believe that Lee Anderson and this family both happen to visit the same branch of McDonald's two or three times a week?  Sounds unlikely.

He didn’t say he was visiting he said he saw them in there. Glass windows and all that.

Even so...

When you go past McDonalds do you routinely look inside to see who is there?  Would you be able to pick out the same family two or three times a week?

It sounds unlikely given the amount of time he would also spend in London each week.

Well maybe he got confused and saw them once in MacDonalds, once  in KFC ( both locally) and them spotted them at a window table of Burger King ( Covent Garden branch) on his way to the Houses of Parliament for PMQ’s

In all seriousness this is probably one of the legacies of the miners strike.

People stood in solidarity and shared what they had together. The miners wives mobilized  themselves into a formidable force. Having to accept charity from the local community and far beyond that was not easy.

Any suggestion that anyone now would be abusing the likes of the food banks if they didn’t need to use them is not going to go down well.

He saw his constituents from Yorkshire at a Burger King in Covent garden in the same week he saw them at KFC and McDonalds.

That is even more implausible!

Much more likely options are;

1. The family doesn't exist and is a figment of his imagination.

2. The family exists and he saw them once or twice over a period of months at a fast food outlet.

3. They are all overweight and regularly meet at McDonalds for a 30p Lee special.

Your theories fail as his constituents are from Ashfield in Nottinghamshire, not Yorkshire.

The bottom line is that Lee Anderson is a truly appalling person.

That's why he's deputy chair of the tory party.

He's also going on to the absolutely dreadful GB News and has had a pop, inevitably, at Gary Lineker.

This is the type of person, by his own admission, that @The Voice of Reason actually admires.

Some folks are just beyond help...
