Watched a few clips featuring this Ashfield ex miner Tory MP. Ashfield is my neck of the woods where I grew up.

In my younger years I would despise him because he is a Tory and says things I don’t agree with.

But:-

He supports the death penalty ( as does apparently a small majority also do which he acknowledges is a small majority)

l don’t support the death penalty but that doesn’t make him wrong it’s just his honestly held opinion to which he is entitled.

He apparently said you can make a meal for 30 pence. Well maybe you can but it would be a shit meal and unlikely to fill you up. Well again it’s his own belief, but I’d love to see him on Saturday Kitchen trying to prove his point.

I would rather we had people like him in politics , like say Dennis Skinner, unfortunately not elected last time round,  on the other ( my) side who are not afraid to speak their mind.

It would be so much better than the now woke PC brigade which seem to predominate. It makes for much more healthier debate.

Penny Mordaunt for one. But it goes across the political spectrum.  ( SNP Sturgeon with her ideas on gender)

Granted more so on the left

I don't like social justice warriors (Or their causes, more like, I think many are well-meaning) and I don't like Penny Mordaunt. But the reasons for not liking them are very different!

Lee Anderson is nothing like Dennis Skinner the infamous Beast of Bolsover.

Skinner was an honest, decent, passionate politician who believed he was there to serve his constituents and not himself.

Lee Anderson is an arrogant fraud and the complete opposite.

Here he is being caught out, by the the Daily Wail of all rags, setting up a tame constituent to say all the right things when he doorstepped them. Unfortunately Anderson forgot to turn off his radio mike when he made the "get ready" call so the whole set-up was recorded...

https://youtu.be/4LmS9CzAY_s

It seems to me the tory party is riven by these useless chancers...

So anyone who thinks the inclusion of Lee Anderson makes for a "much more healthier debate" is completely deluding themselves @The Voice of Reason

"The Voice Of Reason" - what a misnomer that is!

Quite so

Dennis Skinner voted to leave the European Union on the 12th of April 2019 without a withdrawal agreement.

Dennis Skinner voted in favour of the United Kingdom leaving the European Union and in favour of starting the process by 31 March 2017.

That is indeed an honest,  decent, passionate politician believing he was there to serve his constituents.

7 hours ago, Anyone said:

Dennis Skinner ? Really?

Yes. He wasn't a critic of Europe per se but rather he was a lifelong Socialist and hated with a passion " the unacceptable face of capitalism" and all it's trimmings.

When asked why he had voted against every European treaty since becoming an MP some 47 years previously he replied:

“My opposition from the very beginning has been on the lines that fighting capitalism state-by-state is hard enough. It’s even harder when you’re fighting it on the basis of eight states, 10 states and now 28.”

He couldn't be more different from Lee Anderson...

@The Voice of Reason I suspect that simple truth doesn't sit well with your obvious agenda...

Skinner was great entertainment from the pulpit, but just another old fashioned utopian communist, full of that old time religion, promising bread, bullshit and salvation for all.

Lee Anderson's politics are rooted in the everyday lives and concerns of real people. Not fantasy politics for the faithful and the true believers.
