  1. The Sneakers? I'm sure MFer's can suggest some better names 😀
  2. Who says they're putting up a screen? That's a big assumption currently. I can't see them putting up a screen for just evening closures anyway, especially where you suggest. Plus, drinkers are also only supposed to drink in designated areas e.g. front of British only. It won't take much to put up a couple of TVs that receive BBC and ITV inside. The pub might be packed for 90 mins, but there is plenty of time for outside drinking as KOs will generally be 8pm. All provided the weather holds of course and people bother coming out.
  3. It doesn't take too much imagination to work out how they could set it up quite quickly. Lots of screens for rent on the IOM.
  4. The matches are all on BBC and ITV, so a far easier and cheaper set up for pubs. And even restaurants down there.
  5. They'll likely have a VAR (Vast Alcohol Ruckus).
  6. Duh. Because it brings out large crowds of types that like to drink.
  7. The quay is already effectively pedestrianised - just requiring an order to actually close it to traffic. I'm sure it's just the local council wanting the businesses along there to do better (to me it's more likely that businesses down there suggested it, especially the pubs). Otherwise most people will just head to Jaks or the Porch to watch the matches. It's quite pleasant down there on summer afternoons/evenings when the sun is out - though the beer down that way is shoite (Carling or Okells) and I won't be bothering thanks.
  8. Hope they don't make too much noise...or Newson's might fall down.
  9. They've increased it to 'Rhamsey'? If anything they should have added an L. It's definitely L in Ramsey.
  10. There's too few of us. We're busy enough policing/moderating all the new members that should probably be sectioned. Plus dealing with an inordinate amount of ever-increasing spam.
  11. Ridicklessly difficult.
  12. And they pronounce ''Mall' as 'Mall' when it should be 'Mall'. Fookers.
  13. The government have always been particularly bad at projecting these numbers. According to them we should be at nearly 91,000 already. I think the 2026 Census will be quite shocking, in terms of what's actually going on in the island, including: the number of youngsters (and now some older people in the age group 40-50) leaving, just who we have been 'importing', the collapse of the local birth rate, the Manx being financially cleansed from their own island and becoming a minority of the population, the major changes (and in some cases the lack of necessary changes) happening across the economy and more recently, the impact of tax increases (and the wrong messaging to business) for which the impact will take another year to be fully realised. I think 2026 (also an election year) is when we are going to start to be in serious financial trouble...and some serious corrections and balancing in the Civil and Public services will then be forced upon government. They should be looking to start correcting things immediately, instead of taking on all these recently advertised non-jobs. The corrections should have really started in 2006 with the first publication of the size and scope of government report.
  14. I guess I just get a bit fed up of all this 'hometown glory' bollox, where the Isle of Man tries to claim fame to someone who was born here (or only lived here a few months) who has become famous or has made the headlines long after they have left. Statues to someone's bloody mother who lived here, who's daughter became famous across a prime example. Same for the Bee Gees. All a bit pathetic to me.
  15. She lives on the Wirral. Have we invaded there? 😀
  16. My missus did for a long time - after that Ann Summers party.
  17. Indeed... 'Sit forum decernere' - Let the market decide. Not... 'Biggus Dickus'
  18. Shouldn't Queenies be called Kingies now? Think the Queenies will be well off by now.
  19. There's been quite a bit of data science research done on, particularly, mass killings in the USA, as well as incidents in the UK. These events and incidents do spread and the news stations and media are mostly to blame as they generally give these idiots full OTT coverage. Virtually a meme - and it's a reporting format that we shouldn't copy here. This shit should stay low profile IMO - just as other sensitive information about schools is kept the same.
  20. It was a joke...and unfortunately we were the punch line.
