  1. Are you calling display name an unpleasant name, or saying that Tesco delivers penises, or just signing your name?
  2. What's "whoosh"? There's usually plenty of whoosh here on the forum when folks miss a joke, but i don't think that's what you're talking about. Or is this my very own "whoosh" moment?
  3. A while back I was a moderator of a health-related forum. We were having trouble with a particularly nasty individual who kept creating new accounts. One of the admins (based in New Jersey) and I were discussing it on Skype when he accidentally banned himself. I had to reinstate him but not before I had a good laugh at his expense. You probably had to be there but it was quite funny. We chuckled about it for years.
  4. Squirrel cage? Maybe they should have used a hamster wheel instead.
  5. We could lease time-slots to jet-ski couriers.
  6. Are you suggesting that if the CR school project is rushed through, it will start another pandemic?
  7. I haven't had enough oil in my tank to run the CH since October 2022. Didn't let it run dry so I don't have problems when I finally manage to get a half tank. I've gotten used to it TBH. I wear layers, heat the kettle for dishes or a quick wash and have a shower once or twice a week at family's house a short walk from mine (in exchange for sitting on babies). I heat one room with an oil-filled radiator on a low setting. I don't have the latest phone (current phone is seven years old), don't buy scratch cards or otherwise gamble, don't drink, don't go out to eat or get takeaways. In the past seven days my electricity costs have averaged £2.64 per day. A few weeks ago when the weather was quite frigid it was over four quid for several days. Ouch. It hasn't killed me and I don't expect it will any time soon. Its amazing what you can get used to when needs must. Oh... I'm happy enough as well. ~insert shrug emoji here~
  8. Whoo-hoo! When do I start?
  9. Will your pastors' salaries be on par with living hope's? If so, when are auditions? I do a pretty mean sermon.
  10. I for one bloody well hope you're wrong! My daughter and her family are on the boat this morning. They were originally going on Saturday, but with the forecast they changed their tickets. All the kids' presents are already across at the in-laws' house so it would have been a nightmare if Saturday's sailing ended up being cancelled. Luckily both employers were understanding, although they'll lose out a bit on pay. I'm just hoping the strike action - or more bad weather - doesn't delay their return. They're sailing a bit close to the wind as it is where losing pay is concerned. I feel for all the folks for whom Christmas with family across is being disrupted due to not being able to change their sailing. You can never be sure of a sailing this time of year - maybe we should have Christmas in July instead. 😂
  11. I suspect you're confusing doing a little clap with having a little clap. They've got meds for that.
  12. It's always surprised me that the "Tiny House" movement hasn't taken off on the island. They're well suited for single people and couples. If Tiny Houses were a thing when I was younger I very likely would have had one. There are quite a few You Tube channels devoted to tiny house living. It's amazing what can be accomplished with relatively little money and a bit of ingenuity.
  13. Ah, those were the days! Today's nodding dogs cost us millions.
  14. Consultants who write reports which say what you want them to say can and do charge what they like. They've got government over a barrel, so spare a thought for the poor bastards.
  15. I was going to mention Mullis earlier but couldn't remember his name and couldn't be bothered to look it up. I'm not a fan of his at all as (IMO) he's responsible for a lot of unnecessary suffering due to his preaching denialism. I've got no time for people like him and that includes Mr Headcase.
  16. Fair enough. I was just trying to think of ways to placate those who don't want to see this bill go through. Back to the drawing board.

    Chickens

If one gets squashed, does it become a free-range rover chicken?
  18. I was thinking the living will would stop the coercion by helping granny stick to her guns against scheming family members. If a person can be so easily led against something they have strong enough conviction over that they went to the trouble of creating a supporting legal document, can they really be said to be of sound mind?
  19. It seems to me that there's a relatively simple work-round for those who oppose assisted dying being legal. Get yourself a "living will". Detail what measures you absolutely will not want applied to your end of life care. Explicitly rule out assisted dying. Leave it to each individual to decide and make arrangements for themselves and themselves alone. If you think something would piss off your god, don't do it. My god - or lack thereof - may differ, so butt out and deal with the plank in your own eye.
  20. Probably the science behind PCR tests. There have been whackos claiming the PCR testing process is a hoax/fake science for decades now. IIRC it all started with AIDS denialists. Most of the AIDS denialists are dead now, quite a few of them unnecessarily so as they refused to take antiretroviral meds once they became available, despite hiv being real and despite the efficacy of the meds.

    Firm closing

Mummy needs to strengthen the parental controls on your iPad and put you on the naughty step for twelve minutes.

    TT 2023

So it's as I suspected; theres no rule against, it's just not the "done thing". Fecking useless, the lot of them.

    TT 2023

Yes, it's been good. Thank you too.

    TT 2023

Yep. I've just about given up too. If it weren't for my family, I totally would have by now. It's their future I worry about, not mine.
