I think I've missed something along the way... who is "Mr 5%" and how did he get this nickname?

We need the incompetents and arseholes amongst them to stop making history and rather just become history instead.
  3. Sadly, this doesn't surprise me. I'd bet a good portion of that 60% doesn't benefit Ukraine in any way. A bit like how loads of covid relief cash in the UK never benefited ordinary UK citizens. Or am I just being overly cynical today?
  4. Oh yeah, soz. I forgot Tesco is the only shop in Douglas. yerself.
  5. Someone left the cake out in the rain, I don't think that I can take it!
  6. No wonder you're butt-hurt. All that bicycle riding will do that to you. And then when you take your car in to do some shopping, there's those darn double yellows. Can't win, eh?
  7. To sum up this thread, PT is butt-hurt because someone painted double yellow lines over his favourite parking spot. Did I miss anything out?
  8. Unless the room where your washer lives is directly over another flat's bedroom, I think you'd still be hard pressed for it to bother someone in the middle of the night. But again, maybe my hearing isn't as good as I think it is. On the other hand, the last time I lived in a flat where someone lived on the floor above, I never once heard his washer. That was many years ago when my ears were definitely ace. It was also an old building, originally a one-family home carved up into three flats so it's not like it was purpose built with between-floor sound-proofing.
  9. Really? You must have... A) an extremely loud washing machine, or B) extremely thin party walls, or C) neighbours with extremely good hearing, and cantankerous with it. I mean, I can put my washer on and provided I shut the kitchen door, you can't really hear it in the rest of the house. I live in an ordinary house, not one with massively thick stone walls or whatever. Maybe I'm just more hard of hearing than I think. 😂
  10. It's because each successive government is worse than the last and every time we think we've hit the bottom of the barrel, we discover yet another layer of dross.
  11. The heightened concern over EV fires is due to them being much, much more difficult to extinguish than ICE fires. It's a valid concern.

You have your reasons to wish ordinary people who are employed by Robinson's out of their jobs, just because you don't like the employer? That's a bit nasty.

I had a look round in there when they first opened and I agree, it looks pretty good. My only complaint was that many things (and everything i might have bought) were yet to have a price displayed so I didn't buy anything as my funds were a bit tight that day. I'll be back in next time I'm in Douglas and hopefully they'll have priced things by then. ETA yes I could have asked but the fella behind the counter was busy and I didn't have a lot of time.

If Tesco does decided to get rid of the Michael Street shop in Peel, I think it would be great if Co-op next-door took over the premises and knocked through to create a bigger Co-op. I have no idea if that would be possible (building ownership/lease-holder, other obstacles, etc) but it would be an outcome I could support.
  15. @The Voice of Reason Thought you might be wondering... GD4ELI isn't talking about pita bread, he means to say that error testing is a Pain In The Ass. Hope that helps.
  16. Fixed. I agree with the second half of your post*, although I'll probably still vote next time - out of spite if nothing else. *I took the liberty of making it a second paragraph.
  17. That's what you cook the frog legs and locust fries with.
  18. I was going for an Old Testament vibe.
  19. Frog legs and locust fries?
  20. What's happening in education is that in the UK they are outsourcing their sex and relationships education to outside companies. These companies keep their materials as a closely guarded secret under the guise of commercial sensitivity. These companies are all usually connected to Stonewall, Mermaids and similar groups. Schools are pressured to accept their materials with little or no scrutiny under the threat of being labelled "phobic". From what I've been able to see, we have a similar situation here where parents aren't permitted to see the materials. To be fair I haven't looked since last spring, but at that time you couldn't.
  21. Whoosh! You decide to call yourself HeteroErectus and then wonder why someone says you're a straight-up dick. I think you're the one who may be a bit confused. 😂
  22. Either way, the poster is obviously a straight-up dick.
