  1. There are many cases where the victims, knowing what their experience will be in the process of evidence gathering and trial, have decided to withdraw from the process and let the perpetrators go free, so a proper, modern facility to ease the experience and ensure the highest standards of practice is to be welcomed. That said, it has not been clearly established that the proposed building is appropriate and that a cheaper alternative might not have been suitable. As usual the press fails to secure all the info and we're left with half a story.
  2. They've put in place a raft of by laws concerning dogs, but they have no real means of enforcement so they are appealing to curtain twitchers to do the enforcement for them.
  3. All appointed by the government, so fiercely independent. Ex civil servants, retired bankers, a real cross-section of society.
  4. All the Which survey actually demonstrates is that the sample of SP customers they asked complained more than the sample from a few other companies - we have the best moaners ( something I suspect we already knew!)
  5. Why? Government is currently making a profit.
  6. Not Crazy Dave, just singing from the same hymn sheet
  7. She's one of those women things
  8. She's a politician tackling a real problem that affects her constituents, and you sound like a misogynistic bore.
  9. A degree alone is not an assurance that the individual has any aptitude for a job or profession: several MHKs have degrees.
  10. Very wise, as it's factually correct
  11. There's quite a difference between teaching assistants, who work alongside teachers helping support pupils, and cover supervisors who supervise classes in the absence of the teacher. Many of the former, who can be invaluable for children who have additional needs or are less-able academically, have been got rid of as a cost saving, both here and in the UK. Cover supervisors are employed in the IoM and in the UK, because they're cheaper than supply teachers or there are no supply teachers available. Our children do deserve better, but unless we spend more on education nothing will change.
  12. It makes local non-entities feel like they're Premier League for an hour or two
  13. And just when it was doing so well...
  14. Being not far off is not the same as being correct. No doubt unions and parents would like it to be a teacher in front of every class, emergencies excepted, but this is not the case. A combination of teacher shortages, supply teacher shortages and financial constraints have led to the situation being as Meoir Shee has explained. If a teacher is not available because of exam administration, jury service(!), illness, duties as a teacher governor, being away on interview, attending child protection meetings, compulsory training, sickness or whatever, it is more than likely that a cover supervisor will be in charge.
  15. That's the unacceptable face of capitalism, which is why we need Labour politicians to moderate the greed.
  16. You thought wrong.
  17. Unfortunately research shows that the retailers benefited from the tax cut, not the consumers https://www.personalcareinsights.com/news/tracking-tampon-tax-no-eu27-nations-have-leveraged-new-feminine-hygiene-full-vat-exemption.html so period poverty continues.
  18. Also, there are no racks to put your scanner in at checkout! Layout of store is very strange.
  19. Not for several weeks

    STEM

She's complaining schools don't teach 3 separate sciences to brighter kids. The reason of course is that they can't recruit the teachers.
  21. Do you ever post on other topics? You seem a little pre-occupied with this subject.
