Free upgrade to Windows 10?

Recommended Posts

I've put it on loads of windows 10 machines.

Just download it and run it. It will install fine.

Go for custom install to remove the extras you don't want.

Well it won't load on my Dell.

I get Error Code 0x80040800 with the message "Please waste your time fruitlessly restarting your computer. That'll teach YOU!

"We're Microsoft. Don't fuck with us..."

Only one I've had a problem with was my HP DV6 - overheats during upgrade then no graphics driver when you do get past that!

Good excuse to upgrade laptop!

Clean the laptop - get the dust out.

Yesterday PM my W10 system processed a shitload of updates. It does make me wonder just how stable it is.

Anyway this morning Windows Essentials downloaded ok. Unfortunately I can'c check anything because we are off to town to see The Corrs.

More later.

Unlucky. And the day started so well.

Well the missus bought the tickets because we like to have stuff to look forward to. Also booked a hotel across the road from the event, went to a decent restaurant etc etc just to add to the experience.

Anyway, I thought it would be a bit samey / happy-clappy. However I was pleasantly surprised at just what accomplished musicians they are which I hadn't realised until we saw them live.

Mind you, I've seen more meat on a chicken leg....

Is it just me or am I missing something?

Very few official suppliers will sell Windows 7 now. Your best bet is to go to ebay and find a sealed retail boxed copy - there are plenty. Usual ebay caution applies.

If you buy a new PC with Windows 10 Pro, most suppliers supply downgrade media or pre-install Windows 7 Pro. Downgrade rights apply to Pro versions only, not home versions.
