I understand it's very current to make out he's no more than some trained chimp that has somehow managed to bluff his way into the most powerful office in the land but I think the reality is a little different. Granted he wouldn't get into MENSA but he's not as daft as most people make out. He doesn't have an ideological bone in his body, which is how he's got where he is. He'll move with the wind to suit whatever popular opinion desires and he'll give off the cuff soundbites to keep interest high and play the game. He'll be surrounded by sycophants who have a more strategic brain to prompt him down a certain path.
