Gandhi I think

Went there a while back and didn't enjoy it. Not licensed, not told about it when we booked, only found out when we arrived. Was told by the rather condescending owner that India is a Muslim country, which I why they don't sell alcohol.

Food very average, parts of our order missing

Meh...

I am afraid that was my experience too.  Very nice people front of house, but the order was wrong (brought only one starter, missed a naan etc), so I think the waiting staff (who seemed to be the grandchildren and their friends of the maître d') were pretty inexperienced.  This was borne out by seeing them go in and out of the same door into the kitchen, when there are two doors.

The kitchen staff seemed to be from Spice of India.

It does conjure  up images of Jewel in the Crown and Far Pavilions though.

not sure the cream scones would do well in that scenario

I'm surprised to read the negative reports about this place.   I've been a couple of times recently and found it to be excellent.   And BYOB makes the evening far more affordable, even considering the £2 PP corkage fee.
