Generally warm weather and alcohol there will be at least one clown who can't handle it but absolutely nothing. When you see reports of things like the castletown carnival over the years with nowhere near the numbers of peel day yesterday its a testemant to everyone who took part and organised it. Very well run and there were no issues with traffic flow loads of buses on.

+1. Massive well done to all those involved in the organisation and to those who attended.

First visit to the tents Saturday. Massive congratulations to both, HR for essentially massively improving the Bottleneck tent experience, and to Bushy's for substantially upping their game in a much improved location.

Of course, the amazing weather has helped, and I hope the two locations are both financially sustainable in the future.

Easy to see where people's loyalties lie though. Bushy's festival village was absolutely packed!!

It's not really loyalty as such, just a much better experience at the Villa with all the good weather, if it was chucking it down like it often does at TT then it would level the playing field for the bigger tent.

Anyone know why a substantial part of the Villa Colonnade is fenced off. It's a prime location for views over the bay and also over the village and stage etc?

Re security/bouncers:

The Hooded Ram has employed the ones who stand around the pubs the rest of the year staring at people as if to challenge them to cause a bit of bovver. It's a bit disconcerting having a shaven headed scouser givin' it "come on if you think you're hard enough" when all you want to do is have a quiet drink with friends. Apparently that is the boss and I take it that this is their bouncer policy  (which I feel probably contributes to why many of the pubs have gone quieter this past few decade or so).

Bushy's bouncers keep a lower profile but good to know they are there. Helpful and efficient.

you wouldn't get the bosses of H&B or HR behind the bar and delivering stock.

Actually not true down at HR.

4 out of the top 5 (including one's wife) are putting in 12 to 14 hour days down at the tent doing everything from moving rubbish bins to sweeping up and restocking the bars

Health and safety and fire regs put the kibosh on those original plans unfortunately

..and whilst it was all tied up in planning H&B looked at the plans that HR submitted, thought "Ooohh, those containers look like a good idea" and submitted a reduced idea for the Grandstand.

Now, if HR want to do their original idea next year people are just going to assume that they're copying H&B !

Yeah, the protec guy is a twat, always has been, doesn't pay his bets when Liverpool smash Everton either. I like the woman who works for them though.

Yes nice to see Martin has dropped them as well as the security seems to be much better and those angry luggheads from Protek can go round hassling and being dicks to the HR customers instead. All in all Bushy’s seems to have dumped all the baggage associated with most of the things that were wrong with the old site.
