Probably a #4 which went on to become the L42A1 by the addition of a 7.62mm floating barrel plus modified magazine etc etc On single shot load at 200 yards I could get 5 rounds into a 2-inch group in just 25 seconds. The SLR 7.62 is more likely to kill, first shot. Game over. 5.56mm whilst certainly capable of being fatal, is more likely to wound, thus tying up enemy time and resources in dealing with their wounded.
