His mate Crispin Odey did very well out of predicting what would happen after brexit. No wonder he was getting you to back the idea. Do you think Crispin would agree with your reasons above

The Bloomberg piece that photo of Farage came from (I'll not inflict it on the world again) is very interesting isn't it?  There are clearly some people who have already done very well out of Brexit, whether it happens or not.

What does? What are you on about? Refer back to Philip's link.

"Current terms of trade are relieved by a free trade agreement between Morocco and the EU."

have you actually looked up the agreement?

eu sets a minimum import price.....

the tariff/duty is placed on the goods depending on time of year......

if it goes over the quota the tariff/duty also goes up......

all extra costs added by the eu to the uk public.......

You'll have a link to all that I suppose?

Is that why you chose 'salad' and not industrial products?

Morocco is part of Euromed which is one of the key initiatives of the European Neighbourhood Policy, through which the EU offers its neighbours a privileged relationship, building upon a mutual commitment to common values (including democracy and human rights, rule of law, good governance, market economy principles and sustainable development).

Hmmm, human rights, democracy, rule of law etc etc.

Does that sound like similar common regulatory standards that are so hated by those trying to establish loss of emotional "sovereignty" here?

no.....

most food imported that shows up as imported from the eu already comes from outside the eu.....

the difference will be that food passing through the eu won't have duty/tariffs applied in a eu member state.....

the uk will get the benefit of the duty/tariffs......

so fruit coming from egypt via italy or salad coming from morocco via spain will arrive duty/tariff free.....

that's the saving.......

You chose to answer.

I did wonder at the time why you also chose the rather odd term "salad" when describing just one of the many types of exports from Morocco. Now it's clear.

Cherry picking narrows those goalposts no end

read the above:rolleyes:

thread is about food......

you chose to question what i had posted.....

face it you lost.......

  • 2 weeks later...

The UK Government last week are supporting 3 ferry companies DFDS, Britanny Ferries and a new company set up. Their purpose is to bring in extra freight prior to Brexit to stockpile goods. What is the IOM doing? If the UK has difficulties after 30 March 2019, getting goods from the European Ports, increased bureaucracy etc, the IOM will suffer to. What’s the Manx Governments contingency plan to ensure the Island gets enough deliveries and food isn’t rationed?
