Isle of Scrotes

It's very rare that I bother to open the Courier before moving it to the bin but today was an exception.

Amidst its pages we find:

1) Car stolen with dog inside, after lashing out at the owner.

2) Two men fined after a fracas with a bouncer.

3) Teenager tries to run from court lashing out at those who tried to prevent her.

4) Two men steal a car after a night of drinking.

5) Man fined for being drunk and disorderly.

6) Drink driving solicitor drives off the Mountain Road.

7) Knifeman restrained with Pava spray.

8) Shoplifter stole £348 from Tynwald Mills.

Most of these taken in isolation are fairly minor offences when compared to some places in the UK, but I often wonder when wandering around the town if we are breeding an underclass on this island? We certainly seem to have our fair share of knuckledraggers for such a small place?

Life is tough when you have to keep the worlds 8th wealthiest economy afloat!

Anything in the Courier about politicians doing anything useful?

Chris Thomas says the removal of some basic academic qualifications requirement for CS isn't "dumbing down". Does that count?

Perhaps these are the sort of people Thomas wants to see inside the civil service? A bit like Nazi Germany before the war. Creating full government employment to stave off social unrest.

We just need to find a social group or creed now to focus the population's anger on...

It's society in general, not just here. The difference is across it goes up a level;

What over here is a fracas with a bouncer across would be bouncer shot or stabbed.

Shoplifter from Tynwald Mills turns into bank robbery or mugging leaving old lady for dead

Car stolen with dog inside would probably be an epidemic of car jackings

It really is small fry over here. Some of the scrotes from Douglas would be crying for their mummy within five minutes if you dropped them into a genuinely rough area of an inner city across at night.

There's something in what you say.

Thomas' MO is to re-run the Blaironomics period all over again, when he went on the rampage to fill government offices to the gunnels, either to take them off the dole register, increase the intake of Yoonies (edukashun, edukashun, edukashun) and pay them all private enterprise wages so as to increase GDP.

Is no one in COMIN/Tynwald listening??

Maybe it's one way of getting people off the unemployment/social benefits registers - but it's not going to make IOMG more 'efficient' [if the word can be used in the context of IOMG]

'Spect Alf Cannan has a plan to put young mums to work in the civil service for 6 hours a day

Maybe they could work on an economic development plan as all the hugely paid peeps in DfE can't seem to manage it
