HRH The Chief Minister green crusade is ‘hard’

Another day, another piece of bullshit trotted our. Nobody said things are going to be easy. HRH is spinning his green crusade like it’s the solution to problems of society, and it’s magic bullet is training students in green studies! Forgive me, but didn’t we have Government administrations encourage everyone to study film etc and the great film and television sector was our saviour. It’s like egaming - skilled people with shedloads of experience and qualifications working then being made redundant as the egaming company ups sticks and relocates to a better jurisdiction.

It will be very hard and very expensive to achieve a carbon neutral island

£1 billion, according to HRH, which sounds like a figure plucked out of the sky, with absolutely nothing to substantiate it. That's around £11,000 for every man, woman and child, which even spread over 30 years sounds like an impossible sum of money.

He's not wrong though is he?

He isn’t, but he started this ‘climate emergency’ to appease a few of the Tynpotwald numpties, loonies and mouthy shouty ones. He engaged mouth without putting his brain into gear! Still a growth area, we can have an extra layer or two of Civil Servants. How about a Climate Change Minister? A Climate Change Department? And the TT and FOM will have to be abandoned if we are fulfill our carbon emissions obligations. We can have all electric bike racing, just hope there’s no rain!

One really would have expected a farmer to be sufficiently aware of the environment to realise what adopting green policies would entail.

I bet they know how to apply for Government grants and other associated handouts! Another opportunity for farmers to go green, if there’s a grant or two? Eco-tourism? Holiday Cottages? I think most farmers will be sufficiently aware of the environment to realise what adopting green policies would entail. They certainly have experience of government bureaucracy, and form filling.

The subject of TT/FOM emissions was brought up a few weeks ago and the response was that the rest of us were to produce less over the rest of the year to offset it!
