These care homes are nothing but a money making scam, exploiting the vulnerable for a profit.

Some of them try to give the impression of being non-profit charities, but when you look into their salaries, eg for the top management, you soon see it is no different to a business enterprise.

They were always for profit. Where the fuck do you live.

Most care homes I know of, like Elder Grange, Springfield Grange, Castle View and many more give a superb service to 5heir clients.

I dont know why people try to knock what is available, as every single home I have been to offer fantastic care.

I live in the UK as clearly evidenced by the location stated on my profile.

The care homes on the island are abysmal, as they are in the UK too. The whole concept of sticking old people in care homes is a very modern invention and a very sad reflection of the type of exploitative and uncaring society that we have become.

You have it easy then.

Most homes are £1000 per week.

Poor choice of words perhaps? We're finding it quite difficult. Its £700 at the moment because it reflects his current care needs, as he gets worse the price goes up accordingly and he'll get moved into another specialist home with other dementia sufferers that are roughly on the same 'level'.

For what its worth he's been getting 5 star service, we can't fault the care home at all. In truth he'd have died of a heart attack 10 years ago but due to modern medicine his brain is giving up the ghost instead, when first diagnosed with dementia he wanted to kill himself to spare everyone of the suffering, ironically because of the dementia he's since forgotten the diagnosis and just carries on quite merrily in his own little world.

Well, not the direction I expected the thread to go in - I’ve heard the comparison before of course; Get dementia and live in squalor for £1000 a week, go shoplifting and get 3 meals a day in an en-suite room for free.

But to my original point - should prison officers be acting as carers for elderly demented former dangerous criminals, or should they (the prisoners) be moved somewhere else when that time comes?

I'll go for enormous quantities of drugs in a filthy mexican whorehouse, as utterly depraved as possible.

Is there any other kind of Mexican whorehouse?
