Will there be sufficient safeguards in place to ensure mistakes can not be made ?

Do we have the capacity and the expertise on the island to support this ?

Not for me I'm afraid.

And if you needed a transplant? Should those who opt out of donating be opted out of receiving?

Answer the first two questions I posed first then I can get back to you.

What mistakes do you envisage? You’re dead. Why should it matter?  It won’t matter to you, you’re not here. Are your family so selfish that they’d object?

What expertise is required?  There’ll be an online registry of opt out. Cross referenced by name and NHS number, hopefully tied into the UK register.

Really you’ve asked three questions. Capacity? Not quite sure of context?  Capacity to deal with the opt out system? Capacity to make use of the increase in availability of organs? What? Not sure capacity to make use locally is a pre requisite. There’ll be some organs that can be used. Others can be “harvested” and used in UK. Most Manxies requiring transplants have the transplantation in the UK at appropriate centres.

If you’re asking whether pathology have the capacity to tissue type, that’s a a technical issue. If they haven’t I hope they’ll develop it.

Because I’ve had leukaemia my parts aren’t wanted. Although I opted in years ago.

According to Perkins 98 % people in favour of opting out.

Inappropriate question. It isn't about my family. it is my pre death choice we are talking about. Family choice will not come into it.

There are some in Nobles I would not have let operate on me, alive or dead. Human Tissue removal can be a highly specialised field. Assessing and diagnosing brain death is not an every day medical skill, even though it is practiced here daily. There is a difference.

So, you have the right to opt out to protect your corpse from the “butchers” you fear. Now, stop avoiding and deflecting and answer the question. If you opt out but need a transplant should you still be entitled?

Please don't make assumptions. I will describe my opinions in the way I determine, not based on anyone else's assumptions and language changes. We still had free speech last time I checked. :D

Your question should be directed at Mr Perkins et al and see if it goes into the bill. If the law says not then there you go. I can live (or die) with that.

TBH, they can have anything useful from my body after I am dead.  In fact they can have the whole lot.

When expertise and safeguards are in place then I would probably share that view. Until then, it's a No. As per my first post.
