"Isle of Man Energy Policy The Isle of Man Government has legislated to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050 and have an ambitious interim target to decarbonise the power sector by 2050." I don't see the point in legislating something which is wholly within the remit of IOMG to deliver through policy. All this ends up being is locking in a fake constraint that results in dogmatic and more expensive solutions because it only looks at one factor, at one point in time, and tries to cement this as a red-line for the future. Or to put another way, one arm of government making it very hard for another arm of government to do their job in a practical manner.

ian rush
Leaving aside the gas v wind argument when it comes to offshore, the Danish world leaders are my preferred choice over guys who can’t finish an estate in Crosby. 2

Acutely aware the money is running out, and it would be idiotically stupid for the IOMG not to allow the company to find out for sure whether the gas flows... Only drilling will prove or disprove. 2112
CM Cannan on the NPM this morning complaining of the slow progress, and coordination is lacking between government departments in relation to renewable energy. His answer - set up another layer of bureaucracy which will compete against other departments. The new Energy Board is to act as an advisory and consulting body - another talking shop. CM Cannan creates a problem, layering it on another problem.

Who is on this Energy Board? I would imagine that they want the Energy Board to exist so that Daphne and her team of hopeless dreamers have absolutely nothing to do with any renewable strategy. She doesn’t even seem to want the wind farm that they decreed should be built. They could save the cost of about 35 jobs by just disbanding the whole useless climate change team. 4
