  1. Imagine the cost! Putting meters into properties now would be a massive task. What about all the converted places that are now flats? Putting them in new builds might be an option, but it's too lucrative to charge an imaginary amount to pay for the power station to risk losing income by charging for actual use (unless they put an eye watering cost on the price of a unit of water, - then the whole system is outed as just a income stream for the government).
  2. You really are a clueless idiot.
  3. Dropped in to the ‘flagship’ store on the Isle of Man today. Clothing for blokes consisted of ASBO trackie bottoms and hoddies in black. A few shirts and some shorts in a space of about 5 square foot. The floor has tiles missing and a bloody great crack in it. Angled steel work ready to smack your head on Majority of the checkouts are the Self Service crap. Most of the veg had tomorrow’s Best before dates and the lettuce was brown at the edges. Just like the store is replaced. ..and as for the car park and painted pathways, what’s the point of what’s there? I was expecting a lot better for the hype.
  4. Has he finished his dream and woken up yet?
  5. Yup - it couldn't possibly get any shitter.
  6. For everything .. here? Might be handy - how does one use it for, lets say Pizza for Foxdale?
  7. I'm sure when I started (when the Forum was in Sepia and 96pt Scribe Text) new members had to comment on a few posts before they could scribe a new verse on a tablet.
  8. I thought that would have been time consuming and a pain in the arse for mods, seeing the number of new posts in a day sometimes. There has been a rash of dating sites of late. All new members. If no new members, no rashes (from dating sites ..). The forum may drop off the joining lists as a 'spammable' site?'
  9. Maybe put a stop on new joiners for a bit to stop the dating junk spam?
  10. According to Farcebook he stopped back in Feb. But he was looking for a drive in March. I'm sure I saw him messing with an un-taxed English reg van that was threatened with removal last month. It's taxed now but just left on the side of the road. It probably won't get Manx registered like that Range Rover he owns on English plates he has left by mine on several occasions.
  11. Having had dealings with the arrogant twat round my way for parking his cars round here, (probably because he had far too many round at his) - good.
  12. .. for stuff it gets paid to do anyway. https://www.three.fm/news/isle-of-man-news/19000-bill-for-school-fire-callouts/?fbclid=IwAR1hUlTULPFUTD1zeRsWQpnm9ksZzrDqdy__ykSbqGb--HGw9GbmcvFg6Hk_aem_AdnL-B7Fyn3lAdLSqhPnub9xuTKnOVIsMMocfIXjVmvTFsEZkbKs1GfHG6TpRxoOWMPI1g5XA8hb30kbuZhViWVA 'And the Department of Home Affairs had charged £19,053.50 for the callouts.' I found this crazy. A team of blokes sit about playing pool and drinking tea. They get paid by the Tax Payer, and then their department charges another department for the service they offer - which gets paid by the Tax Payer. We pay twice for the same job. This sort of thing deters people from calling the emergency service for anything these days for fear of a large bill. Fire, Ambulance or any of the others. I know they have a shiny new turn-table ladder and 'off road' Ambulance to pay for (probably twice) - but I feel this is just mad.
  13. Did mine online. Usually have to wait until August to get back what I shouldn’t have paid.
  14. Don't have any issues with stuff sent here 1st or packet/parcel. 2nd class is a different kettle of fish. Usually a week to 10 day delay. Given up sending anything letter/card related to the UK now. Anything important gets put in a small box and it get there within 3 days.
  15. A certain company has offered to buy the Ben - who could then offer TESCO a reduced cost for freight passage. It's been moved 'out of sight' to rust in peace rather than sell it to the opposition to under-cut freight charges. I wouldn't mind betting it meets with a survey report about dry rot, concrete cancer in the ballast or engine overhaul issues (or other such bollocks) and gets sold off quick to Greece or somewhere else before the summer is out.
  16. ..followed by some Government department reminding us to register our doorbells and dashcams.
  17. Just step away from the internet. I paid for a lump sum and income or income only under the Civil service Pension Scheme (pre Unified scheme which saw everyone paying the same rate in - not different rates, depending on your position). Depending on what you wanted out - the scheme had different level of payment staged over a period of years until, obviously, any new entrant was paying the max amount. It increases every year until it was all the same. It has always included a death in service element and a dependents pension. What percentage are you paying into GUS and what do expect to get out of it?
  18. ..and bollocks called. I was working for the government well before then - and guess what? I paid pension contributions. I think you are confusing the CS with MHKs, who, until about that time - paid nothing. https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/mhks-start-producing-payslips/
  19. So a million to build a display board that will last a few good years - for an event that allegedly scoops in how much every year for the island? Just like the horse trams, Summer land Site, Park Road site, Old prison site, bus station site - .. sod all was expected to be done once it went and sod all will be done.
