  1. I knew our Jason could be hard of thinking at times, but this is a next level failure of argument and logic.
  2. That's exactly the sort of ludicrous, ill-conceived motion you'd except from Callister, but you'd surely expect common sense to prevail when it comes to a vote. As the old saw has it, "never argue with an idiot", eh?
  3. I was hoping you might have juicy examples to share. Is there an IOM equivalent of the "Malicious Communications Act"?
  4. What criminal offence do you think is being committed by an anonymous poster being "stalked on here"?
  5. McDonalds didn't open here until 1999, long after the height of BSE/vCJD. The infamous picture of John Selwyn Gummer feeding his daughter a burger was back in 1990.
  6. It's an automated system. Maybe it wasn't set up for bank holidays; or maybe they were out collecting all day and simply ran out of time before getting to us because of the extra volume this week, who knows. Unlike the hard working refuse collectors, I imagine council desk jockeys will be very thin on the ground this week, so not expecting clarification any time soon.
  7. Been to the amenity site twice already and will be going again today or tomorrow which isn't an issue. Believe me, though nothing extra is fitting in my bin this week with family visiting. My issue is nothing to do with scaling up, and everything to do with not actually carrying out the single scheduled fortnightly collection that they actually messaged a confirmation for. Indeed. Our refuse collection actually showed up earlier than usual this week. The recycling, not at all.
  8. So did they actually show up "on the morning of Tuesday26/12/2023"? Or is it just me they couldn't be arsed with? Those crappy little boxes are completely unfit for purpose at the best of times, and even more so when they aren't collected for 4 weeks over the Xmas period.
  9. The result of the ballot means disruption to Steam Packet services is likely. Will anyone notice any difference?
  10. Going back a bit further, the 130 million Native Americans wiped out since Columbus landed might disagree with the assertion too.
  11. What's wrong, did your last stupid post not get any bites?
  12. TL;DR - the OHR is staffed by incompetents and is not fit for purpose. The very last thing that's needed is any more of them!
  13. If they could just knock one or two thousand off the current public sector payroll then there might theoretically be money available to fund an increase in HR. Ironically, of course, there would then be no need for that increase.
  14. It should really be a very short debate: "None of this was in your budget, and even if you try to add it into next year there's no fucking money anyway!"
  15. But it takes that many to manage all the admin around sick leave, bullying accusations, and the enforcement of petty and unnecessary bureaucracy.
  16. An alternative suggestion, based on several interactions with the department in question, would be to sack the lot of them and replace them with a far smaller number of staff who possess a basic level of actual competence.
  17. And KLB just regurgitates the tosh she's given without challenge. Sadly, this hardly makes her unique among our elected / unelected representatives.
  18. At least ten posts a day, every day for the best part of four months. You've earned that Nobel Prize.
  19. There are stupid people on pretty much every forum, and this one is certainly no exception. Likewise flood-posting, argumentative gobshites.
  20. I presume you meant "integrated", although where Alf is involved I may be wrong.
  21. "Pedicabo ego vos et irrumabo" - Catullus
  22. I was thinking more about the press. There must be a legitimate public interest there.
  23. I wasn't aware that it was the electorate's job to come up with the ideas; although that would be considerably cheaper than a representative democracy.
