Manx Wow Guild Ideas

I have noticed a few people that lurk here also play WoW.

Would there be enough interest in forming a local WoW guild, name/server/faction to be decided. Whether it be for newly created toons or established older ones looking for something new. There may already be one out there that I havent heard of ?

So WoW players post below if this interests you and you have any thoughts on it.

I quit last month after reaching total burnout with it, had two L80s (mostly endgame 10/25 IL245/IL264 geared), an L71, an L69 and an L63 - until I finally hit that 'I just don't want to fucking do this any more' wall.

Will probably be back for Cataclysm (will carry on with my two 80s (one tank, one DPS)), leave the others and level a new char from L1 as they're redoing all the original zones and I believe making them flyable too.

Won't be tempted back before then, but would be interested in any Manxie type guild at that point though. (All my chars are on Darkspear - but would be amenable to the idea of starting a new char on the Manx server of choice and realm-switching my 80s to that realm for boosting and cash duties - I retired with about 17500G spread across my chars :D)

I stopped playing a few months ago but Mrs Stav still plays and she still holds the Guild Master for the original Smite Club, Psychotic Monkeys and Manxies on Runetotem.

I'll come back at some point although I can still resist the urge at the moment.

Any of those guilds can be refurbished but obviously different realms are being considered and I believe that Ariel is still playing although probably on another realm as I was never on at the same time.

Somehow the guild I formed in the week after wow released, the treehugging hippies, is still going! I've not played for years, and I don't recognize many of the names in the roster but they're still playing and from the look of things doing well. Nuts that people can play the game for so long.

I dont think theres enough interest to get this going by the looks of it. I thought there would be more folks interested to be honest. Maybe revisit when the expansion comes out towards the end of the year.

My return to the game is imminent, (like, this weekend), and I'll be able to bring a couple of (IOM-based) chums along as well.

It doesn't matter if the guild is pretty small, and for endgame content you only need to be able to put a 10-man together.

I think it's a good idea.

Sounds good to me, I have just started playing again and am finding it a bit hard to fit back into my guild as they are farming end game. I get stuck on the alt runs whenever there is space so feel like a bit of a spare part. the social aspect is great but I want to start raiding, Cataclysm or even the Ruby sanctum should spur a few people back.

This is the problem, guilds are really cliquey so you're either 'in with them' and prepared to kick aside all other commitments to make the raid times, or you're left on the sub benches all the time instead, and expected to be grateful to get an invite.

Games should be fun, and the guild mechanic in WoW often leaves them not being fun - I'm sure there's a middle ground you can find where it's always about fun primarily, but you also have good players who can make progress through game content.

With a Manx guild we could all be there from the start and all be chilled out with each other, it doesn't need to have a membership in the hundreds (or even tens), just a decent group of people who want to play for a laugh and get through content as well, and with the binding common factor of being a Manx guild with IOM members rather than just 'I think I can get through ICC and get gear with this lot'.

If we all 'know' each other from MF to start with or are all from the island, then it's a good basis from which to start, as opposed to the usual guilds and guild raids where you've got people from every country in Europe, which is all very impressive in its own way but doesn't leave you with you much to chat or socialise about.

I tried to re-activate my account this evening but the WoW payment system is having one its routine 'I won't accept any payment methods at all' tantrums, but I'm sure I'll be back in business by the time the weekend is done, and am happy to go with the consensus on guild name plus server and faction.

(I do have a load of chars including two endgame 80s and 17500G on Darkspear though :D)
