While I don't work for Stars, I do know that our industry requires a broad spectrum of skills, from IT to customer service, compliance, etc, so as long as IOM workers with the required skills are available, then I'm sure they would have a good chance to find employment. Thing is, though, it comes down to the individual person if he or she is suitable and willing to do a certain job, so not sure what a statistic like that would actually tell you without context for each individual person.

Just in case my point was missed, I was suggesting that the number of disappointed Manx workers would be very close to zero, and that's a more representative statistic to use to define whether PokerStars is "good" or "bad" in whatever screwed-up world of dodgy logic TJ would have us believe he inhabits.

...and how many Manx rocket scientists work at Jurby?

A question of dubious relevance, even before you consider that once you've learned and understood the Tsiolkovsky equation, you've pretty much covered rocket science; it's rocket engineering that requires the big brains.

So you're saying no Manx people have ever applied for a job? Or that no Manx people have ever been turned down for a job there?

Maybe they have but what if their not as good as the people who were given the jobs? should they be given a job just because they are Manx?

What possible benefit is it to Manx people if a company comes here and doesn't employ any Manx people, doesn't pay corporate tax, brings over employees who push up local property prices, and is involved in something which tarnishes the island's reputation on the international stage?

I doubt there are many roles at PokerStars which are so complicated that a Manx person like me couldn't learn very quickly with on-the-job training.

Again why give you on job the training costing money when there could be someone who already knows how to do the job?

How does it tarnish the Islands reputation? Pokerstars is a hugely popular site I am playing online at the moment and there are currently over 230 thousand people playing online. If anything it may raise the Islands profile.

There will be jobs that could be, and probably are, legitimately done at Pokerstars by a Manx person (however one chooses to define that) but many of the bigger paying roles there will be heavily dependent on extremely good maths skills and high level foreign language ability. Good luck to anyone who has those skills but I hope you'd agree that those types of roles are moving into specialised areas.

Even a Manx person with a PhD in Maths from Harvard would stand a good chance of being turned down for a job. Companies who are here for tax reasons are just as likely to leave for tax reasons and they want to retain a workforce who are willing to move with them. That means not being too reliant on local labour supplies. There is also the same old "it's not what you know, it's who you know" bullshit which is so prevalent in our government.

Do you know any Manx person with a PhD in Maths from Harvard, let alone one who has applied and been turned down for a job with Pokerstars? I cannot think of any reason why a large, successful company like Pokerstars would not want to employ the best people that it can and someone like you describe would have to be pretty much top of any such list. As I understand it, Pokerstars has grown from a small operation based in the Isle of Man to a rather large one. To do that they have employed quite a lot of new staff, I don't believe that they brought them with them. A quick look at their website shows numerous jobs in the Isle of Man, can't see any reason why anyone cannot apply for one of them: https://careers.rationalgroup.com/irecruit/home.aspx

Setting aside the above, whether one agrees with the morality of gambling is a different matter.

I wasn't talking about PokerStars. I was talking about all companies who are here for tax reasons. They don't want to be overly reliant on locals. They like to keep their operations flexible which means maintaining a flexible workforce and operations in different jurisdictions in order to ensure business continuity.
