newaccount
"it will allow residents and visitors alike to have more choices." no, it won't. any restaurant or pub with a dog in it won't be getting my business when I eat on site

trmpton
‘After more than two years of research and lengthy correspondence, I am delighted and very much welcome this change in policy. I feel sure that with energetic marketing, and businesses opening their doors to people with dogs, the island will greatly benefit economically.’ What a load of crap. I'd be surprised if the island ever sees a return on "more than two years of research and lengthy correspondence" never mind "greatly benefit economically" It's good to give people the choice, but don't be fooled into thinking loads of extra people will start visiting. I will be making the choice to avoid places which allow dogs.

Gladys
So sense reigns after, what is it, 35 years? I remember when they were banned, my bf at the time had an Airedale who loved his Sunday lunch drink (bitter from a pub ashtray) and became one of those affectionate drunks! After an ashtray of ale he would slump against you and look lovingly at you until he got another. He also liked Scotch, but we didn't indulge him too much on that! hagar the horrible
So, if a pub landlord allows dogs onto his premises and a dog savages a customer who will be libel deemed to blame the dog owner or the publican? litigation, litigation and more litigation Will the dogs be allowed to roam free or will they have to be kept on a leash? Gladys
You can't libel a dog.

Gladys
In truth, I doubt that the kind of people who will take pooch to the pub will be the type to have an uncontrollable dog. Typical knee jerk reaction.
