That is surely never enough time to canvas even half the households unless they're doing it all day every day

Memories are short if it's done too early...most voters make their mind up the few nights before having seen the manifesto's and having weighed up all candidates.

Most manifesto's are only released the week before the election.

You'll be lucky to see 100 people turn up to interrogate all the candidates at a public meeting.

Christian and Quine did the whole of Douglas south in six weeks while others said it was too hard and couldn’t be done. Hence they were rightly elected. Where there’s a will...

Can't remember how long it took me, but yes, Douglas South can be done. It's big but a pair of good shoes and some German marching music and it's easy work...

Aye, Juan Watterson's political career was founded on him cycling all of Greater Rushen in 2006.

Indeed, but I think he took over a year to do it.  It's certainly possible to get a constituency in six weeks if you do it all day every day, but you're only contact with most people will be a "Sorry You Were Out" card, which isn't as effective as personal contact.  You really are best starting campaigning as early as possible.
