K.os Theory
went for the first time last nite, very big brown and leathery. Drinks were expensive ( £3.95 for a pint of san miguel!! ), food was great but again maybe a little pricey for a bar ( £12.99 for fish, triple cooked chips and mushy peas ). I'll probably go again but only when i'm feeling flush!
Dave Hedgehog
Why don't they just cook the chips once. They would probably be cheaper then

John
Problem is to make money from selective music type is very hard on a small island, sad I know, if I had my way I would play Motown & Soul all night, but never gonna happen. Tell you what. I don't go to nightclubs because of the rubbish "" music" that DJ 's play. Bit of Motown & Soul might tempt me though. There is an audience for it. Try it you might be pleasantly suprised. Funny you should say that , as we are having a Nothern Soul / Tamara Motown night upstairs soon.. I also happen to play lots when i have the pleasure off DJing upstairs on a bank holiday, so pop in Thursday and I will play some quality music for you. devil
I went in Lastnight with the wife and we enjoyed it, quick service... nice decor, mind you the drinks were on the slight expensive side! £4.55 for a samugel touch, but tbh I don't mind paying that if it keeps the CHAVS out. Gilligan
Went for lunch. Very swish! Walk throught the padded entrance into a huge space, fantastic. Decor is great, so is the fitty who works there. The menu is similar to the menu in every other establishment. I had a fish finger sandwich, it looked so good, but tasted bland. We order a side order of chips, and they were great! I will probably go back again, just not for a while until it has all 'bedded' in, and the menu will have hopefully been refined.

In life you get what you pay for, I personally do not mind paying £6 for a hot freshly made sandwich in nice surroundings for lunch, but either way you pays your money you make your choice. Sure, I'd rather quality too, I just think they've gone too far: http://the-courthouse.com/menus/bar-menu.html The fishfinger sarnnie is £7 plus £1.50 for a very small portion of chips. There's no garnish or anything, its literally two bits of white bread and some, admittedly nice, home made fish fingers. I had a chicken salad, 11 quid and it was just a small bowl. The amount of money you're making at the Courthouse I'm sure you can afford £6 for a sandwich.

The Voice of Reason
Went for lunch there yesterday. didn't think to book so had to eat in bar rather than restaurant (fully booked on a Wed lunch - not many places can say that I guess). Anyyway bar table (and service) fine. Had steak and cheese foccacio (bloody lovely) with a mingy portion of those thrice fried chips (quite nice). Food not cheap but not mega expensive either . However £ 2.05 for a diet coke is the reason I won't be going back. Shame really, food was good, but there is only a certain level of greed I will tolerate. Cresta Fiesta
Went there last week with a few friends and enjoyed it. Yes it's very expensive but then again it's not actively embarrassing to take visitors there as a lot of eateries on the IOM manage to be (the number of places I've taken guests to and had to say, 'I am sorry, not everywhere over here is this shit'). Food is good if not astounding, service is on the slow side but friendly and competent, place itself is very well done out, full wireless access, toilets don't look like they were used for Slumdog Millionaire scenes, pleasant ambience and all-in-all it's clear it's had some proper money spent on it and they're making a genuine attempt at delivering a cut above what we've had to get used to on the IOM. Cost means it won't be a weekly visit for sure, but it's definitely the kind of place I'd look to go if I wanted to be sure of a decent meal in a decent environment.
