quilp
It's hard to kill an idea no matter how much ordnance anyone throws at it. Talebs are driven by a fundamentalist ideology impervious to criticism or reason, their path is the one and only path to righteousness. The current sideshow they're displaying is merely a distraction to their main aims. Once all the foreigners have departed the façade will drop, subjugation and oppression of the Afghans will prevail as will the misery and suffering.

quilp
Infidels also includes shia muslims, and any other of the 50 or so islamic sects. The Talebs are of a sunni disposition but are indictating that everyone will be free to worship whichever god under the new regime. An eye needs keeping on Iran and its shia proxies. immortalpuppet
Terry playing a very clever game knowing that the world is watching. Maybe they have learned some strategies to help them push through the short term before silently bringing back the old regime. Or, maybe they are going to surprise everyone and show they are committed to some sort of obscure mixture of the old guard with a more reasoned approach to the modern ideology of Islam. The latest pictures showing trigger discipline compared to 10 years ago might be sleight but it shows something has changed. Now just to try and fathom the pictures showing Terry at the funfair!

Look how those countries reacted to the plight of Syrian refugees. There is such a thing as being the wrong type of muslim. Yet the koran dictates that any muslim is obliged to assist any another muslim (7:100) in dire need. Already calls locally for bringing in our 'fair share' of refugees... 1

Already calls locally for bringing in our 'fair share' of refugees... Whilst I understand the sentiment, we have to be very careful that we do not do more harm than good. Do we have the right resources and expertise to help? It is about more than just providing a roof, it is helping with cultural adjustment, not to mention trauma adjustment, proper support. How will we choose who we offer refuge to? Will we have that choice to be sure we can do the best by them? Or are we going to just accept those with skills to offer? It will be a great headline stealer, but would it be the right thing? That is nothing to do with a "charity begins at home" attitude, just what we can really do well. I would have no issue with a donation to assist those given refuge in the UK, even sending volunteers to assist so we get the right skills. 1

Neither seems entirely appropriate,
