sausage
over priced in comparison to what? if your on JSA and go to McDonalds ten times a weeks then yes I can see your point. yes, a bus stop is a prime location, i can tell your from planet Mann! Yeah sorry Jumpup you are talking shit and sound suspiciously like someone connected to the mailbox. I have eaten out and socialised in Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool, London etc over the last couple of years. There are plenty of good restaurants...in ACTUAL prime locations, where you can get reasonably priced drinks, really good quality food and a great ambience and service...places where you leave having a great meal for two, wine or several drinks, and your happy to receive a bill of £50 or less. The mailbox is none of the above. Overpriced drinks, average food, indifferent staff and a really strange out of the way location where you struggle to get any kind of atmosphere 90% of the time. You keep beating the drum though !
Blueman
I recently went the mailbox for lunch I must say very poor was expecting a lot more staff seem very poorly trained and not up for the job. The food was ok nothing special but was really shocked at the price of drinks were to they think they are central London. Guest Buddysmum
We went to the Mailbox just before Christmas for an early supper. I enjoyed the food and thought it was presented beautifully but it was expensive - and the portion size was far too small for my husband's appetite. The wine was ridiculously overpriced. I liked the decor but there were too many staff hanging around which made it feel a bit oppressive, although to be fair we were eating very early, about 6.30pm, and there were only another two couples in the whole place. I suppose later on they'd need to have a large number of staff because it's a big place. Although we enjoyed it, we wouldn't go back - it wasn't "special" enough to warrant the size of the bill. JumpUp
sausage these are purely my opinions as a customer and nothing more. i will agree that the drinks are expensive but i will keep beating the drum with the food. could you please list a few of the places you have been to that you refer to as good restaurants (in comparison to the mailbox) where i can get a meal for two including wine for £50? i hate wandering around aimlessly looking for somewhere nice as in the UK it is very hit and miss. looking forward to your recommendations

I like the atmosphere in The Mailbox - modern and fresh. I have just come back from trip to Channel Islands where there is a plethora of lovely restaurants that don't see the need to serve up frozen chips - we need more good quality places to eat - like the Mailbox

Risso
I've been twice since Christmas with work clients, and both times the service has really let them down. On the last visit, we waited ages for someone to take a drink order, and then the staff really seemed to struggle with those electronic organiser things they use to take your order. It took one of them a good five minutes to find the "chips" button on there, and he was stood there so long tapping and bleeping away that I thought he was doing a Sudoku or something. Paulx21
mailbox closed for good today on circular road, earlier than expected, thought they would last to Christmas! Not sure if there are many buyers out there wanting to waste more cash on that one!
mulokin
Wrong Location. Prices far too high for the quality. Not enough chinless wonders with money on Athol Street anymore. And thats why it failed.

thesultanofsheight
+ 1 Far too expensive to the point I got fed up of going in and spending £50 on a round of 4/5 drinks. But the Courthouse is often just as empty and how the hell that keeps going amazes me too. The Island is dead and there are not enough folk around happy to pay £7.50 for a glass of decidedly average wine and expensive and passable at best food. Its a shame as the Mailbox was a good idea that should have worked.
