General Election 2011 - Douglas West

Like I've said previously Martin is very "special".

If by 'special' you mean a complete fucking lunatic, I concur.

Seriously, the IoM Government using Russian based IP addresses to stalk him and prevent him from running for the HoK? He'll be convincing himself that Stu Peters is lining up his 'wet ops' boys to take him out next.

Listen, freak boy, you fucked up your application form. Look no further for blame than yourself.

As I said before, I am picturing him sat in his bedroom in his Mums house, late in the night shouting and banging away on his keyboard, but now he has a colander on his head and only wearing one sock.

The other he has drawn a face on and is using as a hand puppet, pretending it's Geoff Corkish shouting at Cancer peeps.

You are not wrong, the bloke is a wierdo, full stop.

If he was "across" no doubt he would try and join the Official Monster Raving Loony Party. Even they would tell him where to go. Space Cadet.

I thought I had lost my mind when reading the article in the Independent. In fact I have a copy in front of me and I keep glancing at it - I still can't quite believe it. It's quite obvious from the article that not only did he make a complete mess of his nomination papers, he could't even correctly fill in the application for his copy of the electoral register so that he had a chance of filling in his nomination papers correctly. Rather than put his hands up, he then claims that he has been nobbled by the IOM Government with the help of Russian computer hackers . The man is a comedy genius!!!

It should be said though, in fairness, as far as Taxi Drivers go, this fool is NOT typical. :)

I have to say i am quite dissapointed with Martin's reason for him mucking up his nomination. I was expecting the CIA or aliens to be behind it.

From his website...

These are the full circumstances surrounding my 'withdrawal' from the election on this website. I did not want to withdraw, it was forced on me by virtue of a legal 'technicality'.

I had been trying for over three weeks to obtain a copy of the electors register.

I was repeatedly asked for extra information each time I returned and only managed to finally get a copy on Tuesday Morning - the day of nomination.

I then discovered that some people who had signed my nomination were not registered as electors.

I frantically replaced them and returned to the office at 12.35.

At 1.10pm - 10 minutes after the deadline had expired, I was told that two signatories had moved address and I'd have to find two more which I did but I was then told I was too late.

In the meantime I wish to sincerely thank the many residents of Douglas West who have supported me.

Quite obvious, really - the Russians, under instructions from the IOM government, hacked the website and posted the statement to cover their tracks. Can't you see that?

His picture reminds me a little of that guy in the Claims Direct advert who was using the wrong ladder.

Could have been worse though, he could have been elected and produced the Unfreedom of Information Act; Walk Permit Legislation; started an MAE electrickery Hen query or introduced a Human Wrongs Act.

He was the only one worth voting for....This election is a load of rubbish, the rest of our lot are all the same, boring, self gratifying and chatting boredom about predictable vote winners. I'm moving house so I can vote for Theo, the Manx Dutch bloke, he is great.

Are any of our 'high quality candidates' posting here?

I will not vote & will think of some kind of little protest (like underpaying my rates by a penny & causing £20 worth of paper work or getting away with 1p..... coz I can). Although I thought yer man Martin was 'a bit of a cock' he was streets ahead of the others.

You do wonder how if the signatories had moved he obtained their signatores or not noticed as I would have thought it would have been slightly obvious when he knocked on the relevent door.

I've had three 'sorry you were out' cards now (so glad I work in the day) but no manifestos. I couldn't care less about meeting them, I just want to know what it is they're claiming to stand for. Surely there are rules on submissions of manifestos and when to do it by? If not there should be.

I was shocked reading that.

to paraphrase Hanlon's law: Never ascribe to malice that which can be adequately explained by incompetence, especially if the incompetence was your own!

These wild excuses are a sign of blame spreading and an inability to accept responsibility for one's own mistakes.

Far better to have said "today i learned a hard lesson in dealing with bureaucracy, next time i shall be prepared."

Perhaps someone should get him an "i fought the bureaucracy, and the bureaucracy won" t-shirt!

as for the hits to his website from Russia on a monday, would that be automated spam bots looking for an easy target to drop a load of viagra adverts? someone with more computer knowledge might know.

Judging by ME debate, John Shimmin was street ahead of the others and John Skinner is a waste of ink on the ballott paper.

Seems between Corkish and Thomas for the second seat. I was surprised but Thomas was probably the best LVP candidate to date although caught out a couple of when trying to score points against others by "his" research being wrong. I am not sure whether this is a reflection on Thomas or the LVP but they do seem to learn from questioning on previous debates and I think I am starting to see a tactic where they are not really answering the question but say "can I just go back to an earlier point" so they say come out with there preprepared speil. Beecroft tried this but then seemd to have a slight hissy fit that others responded and this became the area being debated and not the original question.

Gut feeling is that Corkish will get in again but might be vulnerable to the LVP. Also think this may have been a better seat for Beecroft to have stood in but I think the vendetta against Malarky was to strong to resist.

Wouldn't disagree for a moment that Shimmin is the best candidate but he'll finish second behind Corkish as in 2006. Thomas won't make it. You are absolutely correct in your assessment of why Beecroft is in South Douglas....LVP want to spike Malarkey with the same obsession that Gollum wanted the ring.
