Happier diner
9 minutes ago, John Wright said: In terms of clean burn Yes I expect it is. Its an old engine. Over the years they have become more efficient in terms of how they burn the fuel and also the devices that clean up the exhaust. Improvements have been made to injectors and inlet systems so that a reduction in unburnt carbon occurs. Fuels are also cleaner However despite all that I bet even a modern engine is less than 50% in terms of converting the calorific potential of the fuel into power at the flywheel. Will they have room for the Ben AND the Manannan? The Manannan still has engine failure and probably needs to go back into dock

Nom de plume
Word reaching NDP that the Steam Packet are strongly considering reducing the Manxman service to one journey (return service) per day. Simply not viable as a 4 sailing schedule. Edited March 13 by Nom de plume

Simply not viable as a 4 sailing schedule. User Agreement to be amended to suit? It would hardly be surprising given what must be the increased running costs. Maybe that's why they bought it as big as they did. So it can eventually accommodate everything on one return sailing a week 🤭
