ACLDM
I think the Steampacket have been really lucky so far - let's face it, relying on a vessel that can't cope with winds over force 6 in April seems pretty foolhardy!! I was extremely unimpressed to have to travel on Mannanan last week as I prefer the Ben every time, but I had two great sailings that both took less than the scheduled sailing time. It was luck of the draw though - April weather can be pretty hairy!
Frances
guess whose website is down - the Racket's site is reporting Server Error in '/' Application. Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. Finger trouble ? or a local force 8 in the office ? ETA the phone line was finally updated just before 7am just in time to avoid a wasted journey as my bus is about 7:05am Edited April 25, 2012 by Frances
IOMRS97
http://www.xcweather...orecast/Douglas is a useful site for weather - better detail than most, especially wind, which is likely to be of interest to us islanders! Heysham sailing cancelled this morning (Wednesday) - looking at webcams I'm not surprised.... Edited April 25, 2012 by IOMRS97

jaybs
I have traveled on the Manannan when the Captain has warned about winds and it could be choppy, but never as bad as some of the old steamers!

Tempus Fugit
and BMC going to Birkenhead tomorrow ! thinking outside the box :-) Due to the forecasted adverse weather in Heysham Port and to avoid the risk of cancellation, this service will now sail to Birkenhead. A coach transfer for foot passengers will be provided to Heysham.

woolley
And typically the racket show it going to Birkenhead but still list the Hesham timings And the radio announced exactly that. Does anyone ever employ any common sense? On the other hand maybe they turned on the afterburners.
