Undemocratic Farce !

Well the latest round of this undemocratic process gets underway at 5 pm tonight when nominations close, and it would seem that our politicians are once again seemingly ignoring public opinion and letting this farce continue.

Another two members of "The Club" are to be elected onto the million pound a head Legislative Council.

This Island is sinking deeper and deeper into the mire.

The republic of Congo has more democracy than we do FFS.

No doubt the suited and booted gobbag from Peel will be there again. He is so stupid he will imagine that achieving 12 votes in previous ballots is some sort of implied endorsement, rather than the opposite in that half of the House of Keys don't want him as a Member of the Legislative Council.

Truly 'glass half full politics'.

But this glass is cracked, chipped and knackered. Time to throw it out.

12 is actually quite a good vote in favour considering the number of spoiled papers and shenanigans behind the scenes.

Not that any MHK about to lose their seat should be 'elevated'.

Good compared to single figures but a continued '12' is still 50% of his colleagues saying "no", his vote dropped to 9 for one ballot.

Hardly a vote of confidence for elevation to the cosy seats.

just when you thought that it could not possibly get any worse

Perhaps Howard Quayle will let us know how a country the size of New Zealand can manage without an upper house or perhaps he will just let us know about how the NZ health care system works for some, but apparently by no means all of their population.

We have a population of approximately 85,000 served by 24 MHKs, not sure how many freeloading MLCs and God alone knows how many Local Commissioners with Port St Mary and Port Erin having about ten each!! On top of that there is the obscene CS bloat.

Corporal Fraser summed it up rather well.

Personally I would have all the ones who want to stand put in the stocks and have an assortment of rotten vegetables and eggs thrown at them.

These self serving, egotistical idiots obviously have no intention of ever putting a stop to the madness that is the Manx political system mainly due to the fact that every one of them costs the taxpayer over a term of office, in excess of a million quid.

The low paid and the pensioners can seemingly fend for themselves whilst these A-Ho**s cream what is left of our national finances off for themselves and their equally greedy buddies.

We have, thanks to our lack of decent media coverage not even touched the tip of the state of disrepair, of our Islands fiscal future

Good on Ya Cobber! now take our money you have conned us out of and foo* of to OZ (take your mates with you) all 32 of themshuriken.gif

Mr Bell told the Economic Policy Review Committee yesterday that there is a clear need for an external review of Tynwald bodies & structures

Why this is not being reported in the meja today is something of a mystery

Because Bell has correctly identified that the whole, rotten structure is incapable of self-appraisal and regulation?

Plus he has neither the means, spine, stomach or balls to enforce it himself?

And lets not piss around here. "External" means outside the IoM. Which means UK. He knows how bad it is. It's an admittance/invitation to come in and sort matters out essentially, IMHO.
