Great news!

The Liverpool Ferry Terminal will be in use after the TT Festival.

(December is after the TT Festival. . .. right?)

No surprise really.  They'd need to start operating from it at least a couple of months before TT to get rid of any teething issues before the busiest time of the year.

Still struggling to understand how people haven't lost their jobs over this debacle. Peel Ports would have built it in return for a commitment. Proof indeed that not one of the clowns in Tynpotworld have any business acumen at all

This keeps coming up. How can those that are no longer in post loose their jobs. They haven't got a job. Its not a hard concept to grasp.

But until we know who was actually responsible, how can we tell?  You can't just blame passing Ministers or even Nick Black.  Someone must have been telling them stuff to make their decisions on.  Are those people still in position?  Are external advisers who advised wrongly still be used?

Lessons will never be learned while the only governmental response to disaster is shrug their collective shoulders and claim that everyone meant well, so it's all OK really.

Let us not forget the considerable taxpayer funded payoffs too, where applicable. We are paying heavily, even twice, for this incredible degree of rank incompetence. We're still waiting for names, Alex.

Gawne was just the elected figurehead mouthpiece, as they all are. Followed by Harmer and Baker and Crookall and Thomas and Crookall again.

They may not have a job, but in many cases their tax payer funded pension means they may as well have. Just because they're not working doesn't mean they're not getting paid.

True. But a pointless observation sadly.

Yes. But the damage was done when the concept was accepted. Everything since has been damaged limitation.

So they can be named then. At present they are carrying no sanction whatsoever, just allowed to anonymously slip away with their generous financial severance.

But personally, I do not believe that Allinson would be allowed to name and shame though, it might breach CS terms, if not protocol to do so. These people are only allowed to "leave" without formal stated reasons for doing so. To go into detail would also raise questions as to lack of oversight for these individuals whilst they were in post.

Look at @DaveHedgehog's recent recollection of dismissing accountability and reporting of DHSS overpayments. The whole Govt culture is one of avoidance and Teflon shoulders.

We should be chasing the engineering consultancy that were paid handsomely to design and manage this process, not a few oiks that were just administrating it.
