Heffalump Posted June 28, 2017 Share Posted June 28, 2017 The living hope church are again back in the paper and have had some interesting reactions so far from concerned parents etc on Facebook IOM news and politics site. The article in the paper again seems to expose further unexplained loans and deals created for mr Stanfield and "the house". Seems like there is a bit of a witch hunt now on this all or is there any meat behind the stories told of people being kicked out and harassed etc. And is this a cult as stated in the comments? Their heretical teachings such as that wealth is a sign of blessing (the alternate being that being poor is a curse) or that you need to give money to them as a church institution and not any charity - 10% of your gross income no less - in order to please God and effectively go to heaven, is false advertising. The point is, marianic and saints worship cults are grassroots; they're not established or enforced by any institutional hierarchy. In fact, it can often be the opposite in that they influence the church. A cult is a religion or group whose central point of worship is an individual - dead of alive (but even if they're dead, their adherents believe them to still be alive - eg Jesus, Muhammad - as spiritually to shed the mortal body is not death).
